Edinboro Takes Third Seed in PSAC Tournament, Will Face Second-Seeded IUP in Western Quarterfinals Tuesday

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. (April 17, 2017) – The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference this weekend unveiled the bracket for the PSAC Women's Tennis Tournament. Edinboro clinched the third and final seed in the PSAC West after beating Seton Hill, 9-0, on Friday, earning its first tournament berth since the program's resurrection in 2011. The Fighting Scots will take on second-seeded Indiana (Pa.) in the league quarterfinals on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m., with the winner facing Eastern Division top seed West Chester on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Bloomsburg University.

Head coach Lee Underwood's team finished the regular season with an 11-5 record and a 4-2 mark in the PSAC West, and were ranked fifth in the latest NCAA Atlantic Region poll. Along with Seton Hill, the Fighting Scots posted conference wins over California (Pa.), Clarion and Slippery Rock. The last time Edinboro made the PSAC Tournament was 2003, when every team participated. This will be Underwood's first trip to the PSAC Tournament on the women's side. Edinboro fields four singles players with at least 10 victories. Tatiana Batalla Trabal owns a team-best 15-6 record as the Fighting Scots' number-three player. Anastasiya Dasik is 12-5 on the year at number five, while Roxana Yeh is 11-4 at four and Jelena Vucenovic 11-5 at six. Laura Lopez holds a 7-11 mark as Edinboro's top singles competitor, with Julia Hellstern 7-12 in the second spot.

The number-two doubles team of Battalla Trabal and Hellstern lead Edinboro with a 12-4 mark, going 4-2 against PSAC opponents. The three tandem of Dasik and Vucenovic are 11-5 overall, and are also 4-2 in league matches. The top team of Lopez and Yeh are 7-12 overall.
