Fighting Scots Blank Clarion for Second PSAC Win in Two Days

CLARION, Pa. (April 5, 2017) – The Edinboro University women's tennis team continued their hot streak on Wednesday, beating Clarion by a 9-0 score. The Fighting Scots, along with their 7-2 win over Slippery Rock on Tuesday, picked up their second PSAC win in as many days to jump to 10-4 overall and 3-1 in the conference. The Golden Eagles fell to 5-8 and 0-4, respectively.

Wednesday's win came just hours after it was announced head coach Lee Underwood's team was ranked fifth in the NCAA's first Atlantic Region poll earlier today. Edinboro has won six of its last eight contests.

Edinboro dominated the doubles competition, with Julia Hellstern and Tatiana Batalla blanking Allison Probst and Michelle Petrilla by an 8-0 score. The tandems of Laura Lopez and Roxana Yeh and Anastasiya Dasik and Jelena Vucenovic each won their matches by 8-2 scores in the first and third doubles spots, respectively.

The Fighting Scots' success transitioned into the singles competition, winning all their contests in straight sets. Batalla posted her second shutout win of the day, beating Petrilla at number three singles by matching 6-0 scores. Lopez clinched the win for the Boro with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Arnold in the top singles slot.
