MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Edinboro women's cross country team showed promise on Saturday morning as the Fighting Scots competed in the Allegheny College Classic. All four runners for Edinboro, which included three freshmen, finished in the top 72 for the Scots.
Senior Aparna Alavilli of Carnegie Mellon took first place, as she finished the 5K race with a time of 18:03. Her teammate, sophomore Abigail Levine finished three second later at 18:06. Case Western's Danielle Kulpins and Madeline Lindemann, captured third and fourth place, respectively with times of 18:19 and 18:24. Mackenzie Meyers of Capital rounded out the top five with a time of 18:32.
The meet featured 134 finishers from Division III teams - Carnegie Mellon, Case Western, Waynesburg, Allegheny, Grove City, Capital, Washington & Jefferson, Chatham and Thiel. Edinboro was one of three Division II schools in attendance, joining PSAC foes Seton Hill and Indiana(Pa.).
Freshman
Jordan Hauser was the top finisher for the Scots, as she came in 46th with a time of 20:25. Junior
Cassie Whitmoyer took 59th finishing at 21:09.
Michaela Lind (69th - 22:14) and
Karen Oliveras (72nd - 22:59) rounded out Edinboro's runners.
The Fighting Scots return to action on Friday, September 29 when they travel to Lehigh University to compete in the Paul Short Invitational.
