Rider is 7-2 on the season and 1-0 in the EWL prior to Friday's dual at Cleveland State.
- The Fighting Scots will look to extended their 24 match EWL winning streak when they take on Rider. Edinboro has gone undefeated the last four years in EWL action, and has not tasted defeat in an EWL match since losing to former EWL member Pittsburgh, 19-18, on February 22, 2013.
- Edinboro picked up a 35-3 win over Bloomsburg on January 6 to open EWL action. Five different Edinboro wrestlers picked up major decisions with six Fighting Scots earning bonus points. In the rematch of the PSAC Championship at 133 lbs., Korbin Myers recorded his second straight decision over Andy Schutz, 4-1.
- The Fighting Scots ended 2017 at the 55th Annual Ken Kraft Midlands Invitational. Sean Russell (125 lbs.) and Korbin Myers (133 lbs.) both placed for Edinboro. Russell finished fifth while Myers was eighth in their respective weight classes.
- Edinboro opened the season going 2-0 hosting the Fighting Scot Duals versus Cal State-Bakersfield and Bucknell. Virigina Tech finished sixth at the Las Vegas Invitational, with redshirt sophomore David McFadden winning the title at 165 lbs.
- The match with Rider will likely play a large role in who finishes as the EWL regular season champion, with Lock Haven also having a say in the matter. The Broncs are 7-2 overall and 1-0 in the EWL, with a win over George Mason (36-6). A year ago, Rider finished runner-up to the Fighting Scots at the EWL Championships. HEAD COACH
EDINBORO -- Tim Flynn (Penn State '86) is in his 21st season as the helm of the Fighting Scots. He has elevated the Edinboro program to one of the best in the country, compiling a 218-91-5 record. Edinboro has had 14 top-20 finishes and five in the top ten at the NCAA Division I National Championships during his tenure. That includes the two best finishes in school history in 2014 and 2015. The Fighting Scots made the podium for the first time at Nationals with a third place showing three years ago, and in 2014 they were fifth. He has produced three national champions and 38 All-Americans. All told, Flynn has been named the EWL Coach of the Year seven times and the PSAC Coach of the Year 14 times. Four years ago, Flynn captured nearly every Coach of the Year award, including being named the NWCA NCAA Division I Coach of the Year, WIN's Dan Gable Coach of the Year, and was InterMat's Co-Coach of the Year along with Minnesota's J Robinson. Flynn was inducted into the Edinboro Athletic Hall of Fame in October.
