TIFFIN, Ohio. – The Edinboro women's swimming team picked up its first dual win of the season on Saturday, 89-28, behind nine Fighting Scots who combined for 11 first place finishes. With the win, Edinboro improves to 1-2 on the season, while Tiffin falls to 0-10.
Katelyn Kopacko was one of two Fighting Scots to place PSAC qualifying times on the day. She won the 50-yard freestyle with a qualifying time of 24.96. She also won the 100-yard breaststroke at 1:11.89, but fell .05 seconds short of a PSAC mark.
Kopacko was also a member of the 200-yard medley relay team that finished in first place with a time of 2:16.04. She was joined by
Morgan Joseph,
Yana Miletska and
Kaitlyn Daiger were part of the relay team.
Joseph, Daiger and Kopacko, were joined by
Casey Tokarski in a first place finish in the 200-yard freestyle with time of 1:41.85.
Sydney Dundon also took home two wins against the Dragons. She won the 100-yard freestyle at 56.45, and the 200-yard freestyle at 2:05.32.
Both Joseph and Miletska won individual events on the day. Joseph finished first in the 100-yard backstroke at 1:04.83, while Miletska won the 200-yard breaststroke at 2:39.16.
Kendall Peregrini won the 1000-yard freestyle at 11:40.42, and
Kara Miller captured a first place finish in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:44.56.
Casey Tokarski qualified for the PSAC Championships in the 50-yard freestyle. She finished in second place with a qualifying time of 25.88, which is one tenth of a second from the cut-off time of 25.89.
Edinboro returns to McComb Fieldhouse on Janurary 13 against Shippensburg in their first of three straight home duals. The contest, which is slated for a 11 a.m. start, will be the Fighting Scots first dual at home since their home opener against Indiana(Pa.).
