Edinboro Concludes Three-Match Road Trip With 3-0 Loss At Slippery Rock

  • Location: Slippery Rock, Pa.
  • The Short Story: The Edinboro volleyball team concluded its three-match road trip falling, 3-0, to Slippery Rock on Tuesday night. The Fighting Scots will return to action on the weekend when they host Clarion and Indiana(Pa.) in PSAC action.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Rock took the first two sets by scores of 25-17 and 25-23.
  • The second set went back and forth with neither team leading by more than three at any point before The Rock won the final three points to take a 2-0 set lead.
  • Most of the third set was much like the previous one with neither team leading by more than two.
  • After falling behind 6-1, Edinboro came back and took a 17-15 lead to force an SRU timeout.
  • Slippery Rock went on a 5-1 run to take a 20-18 lead and a Fighting Scots timeout.
  • A Rock kill claimed the match with a kill in the third set (25-19)
BY THE NUMBERS
  • Cierah Jackson led the Fighting Scots with XX. The freshman has had double-digit kills nine times this season.
  • Freshman Alicia Eldredge had a match-high 29 assists. It marked the 10th time this season that she has had 25 assists in a match.
  • Sophomore Molly Breier had a team-high 11 digs while senior Megan Screptock had nine.
NEXT FOR THE FIGHTING SCOTS
  • Edinboro will host a pair of PSAC matches this weekend. On Friday, October 5, Clarion visits McComb Fieldhouse for a 6:00 p.m. match. The next day on Saturday, October 6 Indiana(Pa.) makes the trip for a 1:00 p.m. start.
