Seton Hill jumped out to a 12-7 lead with scores on its first two possessions, but it was all Edinboro after that. The Fighting Scots would score the final 49 points, with 14 points in each quarter. James Clark eclipsed the career receptions record previously held by Darren Massey. The senior wide receiver now has 195 career catches. GAMEDAY MEDIA CENTER HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Seton Hill would score on its first two possessions to lead 12-7 less than nine minutes into the game. The Griffins took the opening kickoff and drove 60 yards in 11 plays. Terrell Ford would cover the final 14 yards on a pass from Chris Jones on a 4th-and-5 play for a 6-0 lead with 10:16 left in the first quarter after Hunter Miller's extra point was wide left.
  • Edinboro needed just five plays to take a 7-6 lead with 8:47 left in the quarter. Walter Fletcher burst 46 yards on the very first play of the 64-yard drive, and accounted for the final nine yards for his first score of the day. Like Seton Hill, Edinboro scored on fourth down. Freshman Jake Monroe converted the first of his eight extra points.
  • Back came Seton Hill, as Jones threw his second touchdown of the game, Making his first career start, the redshirt freshman threw a 22-yard TD pass to standout Ardell Brown with 6:49 left. The extra point failed once again as Myles Turner blocked Miller's kick.
  • Edinboro made it four scores in four possessions to start the game, as the Fighting Scots scored four plays later. The 59-yard drive started with a 33-yard hookup from Jarrod Kellar to Blake Reddick, the longest reception of Reddick's career. Kellar and James Clark combined on an 18-yard pass on the next play. Following an incompletion, Kellar and Clark hooked up again for an eight-yard TD. Clark caught the ball near the goal line and was able to stretch across the goal line for his 26th career TD reception.
  • The defenses settled in a period after that as neither team scored over the next five possessions. Edinboro would put up a pair of scores in less than two minutes midway through the period. A trio of big plays keyed the nine-play, 80-yard drive that ate up four minutes and one second. On a 3rd-and-10 to start the drive, Ta'Nauz Gregory made a spectacular diving catch for a 22-yard gain. On the next play, Fletcher went 25 yards into Seton Hill territory. Kellar than capped the drive with a 21-yard pass to Reddick, who hauled in the pass at the ten, spun around and went untouched into the end zone at 7:53 for a 21-12 lead.
  • A mishandled punt snap led to Edinboro's next score. The snap was dropped at the one, with Kahlil Jackson recovering the fumble and diving into the end zone. It was the freshman wide receiver's first touchdown.
  • Seton Hill drove inside the Edinboro five in the final seconds, but the Boro defense came up big. On second and goal from the one, Trey Hall and Derek Dorr threw Tommy McChesney for a one yard loss. Cinque Sweeting lost two yards on the next play, courtesy of Maurice Sims. Jones then threw an incomplete pass on fourth down.
  • Edinboro added a pair of scores in the third quarter to take a 42-12 lead, both courtesy of Fletcher. After the Edinboro defense stopped the Griffins on downs at the EU 10, Edinboro needed three Fletcher runs to cover the 90 yards. A pair of seven yard runs were followed by a 76-yard burst by Fletcher straight up the middle, as the redshirt junior outran several Griffin defenders. That made it 35-12 with 7:52 remaining in the third quarter.
  • Fletcher was back in the end zone three minutes later to cap a five-play, 70-yard march. Gregory's feet put the Scots in scoring territory, as the junior wide receiver took a little pitch and went around right end for 35 yards to the SHU 35. After an incomplete pass, Fletcher carried three straight times. The last was for 19 yards, as he took the handoff, went off right tackle took it outside and went down the sideline.
  • The fourth quarter featured two more Edinboro scores and Clark and Fletcher's pursuit of records. Fletcher scored for the fourth time two plays into the fourth quarter as he carried on all three plays of the 77-yard drive. The second carry was a 72-yard run that carried down to the SHU 3. He went up the middle on the next play for a 3-yard TD run, giving Edinboro a 49-12 lead with 14:22 remaining.
  • Clark set the receptions record on the next series. His 195th career reception was a simple short pitch as he went on motion, good for a five-yard gain. On the next play, Kyle Galyk went 68 yards for the final score, as the senior started off left tackle, bounced the run to the left and outran the Seton Hill secondary down the right sideline with 10:17 left to play.

  • Walter Fletcher finished with a school-record 328 yards on just 21 carries, a 15.6 yard average. He broke the record of 316 yards held by Gerald Thompson against California(Pa.) in 1998. Fletcher scored four times on runs of 9, 76, 19, and 3 yards. His 328 all-purpose yards ranks third in a game. He boosted his season total to 1,075 yards, his second straight season with 1,000 yards. Branson Smith, a freshman cornerback who shadowed Ardell Brown much of the day, had 9 tackles. Edinboro totaled four sacks.
  • Seton Hill held a time of possession lead of 34 minutes to 26, and it would not have been that close if Edinboro had not had the ball for 9:24 in the final quarter.
  • Both teams struggled on third down, with Edinboro converting 2-of-11 chances and Seton Hill 4-of-17. But Edinboro was 3-of-4 on fourth down, with the Griffins just 2-of-6. Oddly enough, both teams scored their first touchdowns on fourth down plays.
