EDINBORO, Pa. – Edinboro assistant wrestling coach Cliff Moore has been named one of the 50 best Iowa high school wrestlers of all time by the Des Moines Register in a recent article.

The Register's story featured a 'top 25' section, which included the likes of Scott Morningstar, Mack Reiter and Moore's cousin, Nick Moore. Cliff Moore was listed in the 'next 25', and featured Dan Gable and Ryan Morningstar.

A product of Dubuque, Iowa, Moore was a standout at Hempstead High School. He was a three-time state champion at 112, 119 and 125 pounds. He has been inducted into the Iowa and Hempstead High School Hall of Fames.

The Register's story noted "Moore was a three-time state champ, and despite winning his titles at 112, 119 and 125 pounds, he was considered a man amongst boys on the mat."

Moore went on to wrestle at Iowa, where he was a three-time All-American, claiming two Big Ten titles and winning a national championship. He ended his collegiate career with a 109-24 overall record. He competed three times at nationals, finishing in sixth-place as a redshirt sophomore and junior.
