HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Edinboro took control of the first set with a run of eight straight points midway through the set. The Fighting Scots went from a 10-10 tie to an imposing 18-10 lead as Sally Sterkel contributed three kills. With Edinboro holding a 23-14 lead, the only drama remaining was whether Cierah Jackson would reach 1,000 career kills in the set. The junior outside hitter had two kills up to that point, leaving her one shy of the mark. She would score Edinboro's last two points to become the 14th Fighting Scot with 1,000 kills as Edinboro prevailed 24-16. Sterkel had a team-high five kills, with Jackson and Burrelli adding four. The Scots hit .400 in the opening set, while Clarion was at .119.
  • It took Edinboro a little longer to pull away in the second set, but they finally did while winning 25-20. Tied at 17-17, the Fighting Scots reeled off seven of the next eight points to grab a 24-18 lead. Jackson keyed the spurt as she had four kills in the run and five in all in the set. The Scots again hit a solid .290 while Clarion was at .048.
  • Edinboro dominated the third set with an early run that proved insurmountable for Clarion. Tied at 4-4, Edinboro would score the next 11 points. Erica Sharp had three kills during the run. The Golden Eagles never pulled closer then nine points the rest of the way. The third set saw Edinboro hit .600 while Clarion was at .043. Jackson had four kills and three other players added three.
