EDINBORO, Pa. – The Edinboro men's basketball team will play its second straight game on the road, this time heading west rather than east. The Fighting will head to the Cleveland suburbs to play at Notre Dame(Oh.) on Monday, November 18. Tipoff is set for 6:30 p.m. at Murphy Gymnasium.

Edinboro is off to a 2-0 start, with a win at home over Thiel, 95-72, followed a narrow 67-65 win at Roberts Wesleyan last Thursday. Notre Dame, meanwhile, comes in with a 0-2 record after playing Slippery Rock and Millersville in the MEC-PSAC Challenge. Playing in Fairmont, WV, the Falcons opened with a 78-76 loss to Slippery Rock, followed by an 82-61 loss to Millersville.

Oddly enough, both teams have played Cleveland State. Notre Dame played the Vikings on October 30 in an exhibition game and upset the Vikings, 69-64. Edinboro faced the Vikings on November 9, and fell 79-54. The game served as an exhibition for Edinboro, but counted as a regular season contest for CSU.

Simpson, a 6'3" junior, is averaging 17.0 ppg. after finishing at 18.0 ppg. a year ago. He adds 5.5 rpg. and has a team-high 11 assists, while making 9-of-18 3-pointers. Notre Dame comes in at 0-2 while waiting for several players to return. In fact, just eight players have played the first two games.  Levi Frankland, a 6'4" guard from Australia, is averaging 22.0 ppg. and 5.0 rpg. Larenz Thurman, a 6'0" senior, adds 13.0 ppg. while Jordan Burton comes in at 10.5 ppg.  He is a 5'10" freshman. Drew Scarberry, a 6'6" redshirt senior, is the top rebounder at 7.0 per game while averaging 8.0 ppg. The Falcons' roster includes DeAnthony Owens, who played at Edinboro last year.

Notre Dame was 23-9 a year ago and won the Mountain East Conference championship.  The two teams met for the first time in 2016-17 in South Euclid, Ohio, with the Falcons prevailing 102-86.

Following the Notre Dame game Edinboro has three straight home games, beginning with a pair of PSAC crossover games this weekend. Edinboro hosts Shepherd on Saturday, November 23, then welcomes Shippensburg to McComb Fieldhouse on Sunday, November 24.
