Hill Signs Six Recruits to NLI's

EDINBORO, Pa. – Edinboro University wrestling coach Matt Hill has announced a very impressive start to his 2020 recruiting class. Hill has signed six wrestlers to national letters of intent (NLI's) during the early signing period.
 
"This is a great start to the fall 2020 recruiting class with a talented group with grit and determination that will excel at the next level, Hill commented.  "The student-athletes come from hot beds of wrestling in Ohio, New York and Pennsylvania.  We also look to add a few more guys in the coming months heading into spring. I feel that the current commits are great addition to the future of Edinboro wrestling."
 
Here's a look at the six newest Fighting Scots:
 
Sully Allen (157/165 lbs.)
Sharon, PA/Sharon High School
 
Finished fifth at the PIAA Class AA State Championships while competing at 152 lbs. last year … ranked 3rd in the PIAA preseason rankings … has a 93-25 career record with 26 falls … reached the semifinals last year at the state championships, finishing with a 38-4 record with 13 falls … won the Northwest Region championship and finished second at the section and district championships … was a first team Region 1 All-Star and seceondteam All-District 10 selection … was 31-8 while competing at 152 lbs. in 2017-18, winning the section crown and finishing sixth at districts … competed at 145 lbs. in 2016-17, going 24-13 and placing third at sectional.  
 
HILL COMMENTS ON ALLEN:  "Sully has a huge upside in his wrestling and is very quick and explosive. He's a local talent that wants to stay home and win at the highest level." 
 
 
Ryan Burgos- (141/149 lbs.)
Hilton, NY/Hilton High School
 
Three-time New York Division qualifier who won the 126 lb. state championship last year for Hilton High School and head coach Craig Gross … finished with a 50-2 record … helped Hilton finish first … also won Section V SuperSectional crown … ranked 14th by Intermat and a Top 200 FloWrestling senior ... posted 5-4 decision over Tyler Kellison of Jamesville-Dewitt to win state championship ... was 46-7 as a sophomore and competed at state championships at 120 lbs.
 
HILL COMMENTS ON BURGOS:  "Ryan is a very savvy, smart wrestler and comes from one of the best wrestling programs in the state of New York.  He had a breakout year winning a state title this past season in New York.  He looks to wrestle either at 141 or 149 lbs. at the Boro! "
 
Beau Dillon (197/285 lbs.)
Salem, NH/Salem High School
 
Two-time New Hampshire Division I state champion and three-time state qualifier for head coach Nick Eddy and Salem High School … defeated Kyle Setzer of Pinkerton, 5-1, in the finals … also won 195 lb. New England championship last year, Salem's first since 2008, defeating Joe Gjinaj of Fairfield Warde, Conn., 9-1 … ended the year with a 53-5 record and now has a 116-31 career record … also a two-time MOC Champion.
 
HILL COMMENTS ON DILLON:  "We are excited to welcome another tough New England area wrestler. One of Beau's coaches is former Fighting Scot standout and NCAA All-American (197 lber) Dave Shunamon.  Beau has a huge upside only beginning his wrestling career in ninth grade.  So very new to the sport.  He's very aggressive and has explosive attacks."
 
 
Ethan Ducca (174/184 lbs.)
Chardon, OH/St. John High School
 
An Ohio Division III state finalist who would finish second at 160 lbs., dropping a 7-1 decision to James Limongi off Genoa Area … was in his first year at St. John after transferring from Chardon High School … ended the year with a 39-6 record … prior to his transfer, took sixth at the Division II Alliance District Tournament as a freshman, before losing his sophomore year to injury … won 138 lb. Division I sectional championship as a freshman in 2017 … finished with a 28-15 record with 10 that season
HILL COMMENTS ON DUCCA:  "Ethan is a work horse and loves to work hard in the wrestling room. He will be a great addition to our upper weights and looks to make his mark as a Fighting Scot. "
 
 
Jacob Lagoa-(157/165 lbs.)
Ashtabula, OH/Lakeside High School

Wrestled first two years at St. John before enrolling at Lakeside High School last year … won two Division III state championships at St. John … in two years there was 84-6, with a 39-3 record in 2017-18 and a 45-3 record in 2016-17 … won state title at 152 lbs. as a freshman, defeating Colt Yinger of Mechanicsburg, 6-3, and 170 lbs. as a sophomore in 2018, beating Smithville's Riley Smucker, 10-3, in the 2018 finals … team finished as state runner-ups in 2018 … went 23-1 last year for Lakeside before tendinitis in his knee wiped out the postseason and his bid to become a three-time state champion. His only defeat was against eventual Division I 170-pound state champion Carson Kharchla of Powell Olentangy Liberty …finished fourth at Super 32 … a top 150 2020 recruit … ranked 14th by InterMat and 15th by FloWrestling … number one overall senior in Ohio.
HILL COMMENTS ON LAGOA:  "Jacob is very talented and very explosive in every position. He will look to start right away at 165 lbs. next season. We are extremely excited to get him in our room next fall."
 
 
Gabe Willochell (133/141 lbs.)
Latrobe, PA/Greater Latrobe High School
 
Two-time PIAA Class AAA placewinner for Greater Latrobe High School, finishing fourth at 132 lbs. as a junior and sixth at 126 lbs. as a sophomore … ranked #3 in PIAA Class AAA preseason rankings … has a 95-26 career record … reached the semifinals a year ago, ending the year with a 35-6 record and 17 falls … won the section championship and placed second at WPIAL Tournament … also won section championship and finished third at WPIAL Tournament in 2017-18 as a sophomore, before placing sixth at state championships at 126 lbs. … had a 35-9 record and again reached semifinals … was 27-11 as a freshman.
 
HILL COMMENTS ON WILLOCHELL: "Gabe is very good in all positions, especially from the top.  He's one of those crafty high-pace wrestlers who loves to scramble and create scoring opportunities."
