Women's Tennis to Debut with Back-to-Back Matches vs. Grove City, Westminster

Head coach Kody Duncan
EDINBORO, Pa. – The Edinboro women's tennis team will get the 2019-20 season underway for Fighting Scots athletics with a pair of matches early this week. The Fighting Scots host Grove City at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 3, followed by a match at home against Westminster the very next day. That contest will get underway at 5:00 p.m.

Head coach Kody Duncan begins his third year in charge of the Edinboro tennis program with a new-look women's squad. In fact, the roster is entirely new, as Duncan brought in six freshmen while looking to improve on last year's 2-18 finish.

Duncan's recruiting class hails from two countries and four states. The group includes Morgan Bender (Hermitage, Pa.), Torye Calleja (Anthem, Az), Lauren Chiacchia (Hamburg, N.Y.), Mia Oliver (Denver, Co.), Lilly Schmidt (Montabaur, Germany), and Anna Zak (Pittsburgh, Pa.).

Edinboro faces a Grove City team that finished with a 15-3 record a year ago and started the 2019-20 season on Saturday with an 8-1 win over Thiel. The Wolverines won the Presidents' Athletic Conference championship last year. Westminster was 11-7 a year ago, losing to Grove City in the PAC finals. The Titans are 2-0 on the young season.
