Calleja, Zak Combine for Win in Doubles Play as Boro Falls to Westminster

Lilly Schmidt went three sets at number one singles.

Box Score (New/Sortable Format) EDINBORO, Pa. – The duo of Torye Calleja and Anna Zak picked up a win in doubles play, but it was not enough to avoid a 7-0 loss to Westminster on Wednesday. The young Fighting Scots fell to 0-2 while playing for the second day in a row. Westminster improved to 3-0.

Calleja and Zak combined for a 6-1 win at number two doubles over Julia Serbati and Casey Barton. The Titans won at number one doubles and picked up a forfeit win at number three doubles to gain the doubles point as Edinboro was short a sixth player due to injury.
Edinboro's all-freshman team showcased Lilly Schmidt in singles play. The native of Germany won the first set at number one singles by a 6-3 score, but then was the hard-luck loser by scores of 7-5 and 10-8 in the final two games.

The Fighting Scots are right back in action on Tuesday, September 10, hosting Ashland. The match gets underway at 4 p.m.
