Edinboro, Pa. – The Edinboro wrestling team had three wrestlers earn bonus points taking visiting Pitt to the wire before falling 28-20 Saturday night at McComb Fieldhouse.
 
The dual opened at 125 with Gage Curry posting a 3-1 decision over Logan Jaquay to give the Panthers a 3-0 advantage. Pitt extended their lead to 8-0 when Micky Phillipi scored a 17-2 tech fall over Clayton Bashor at 133.
 
Gabe Willochell put the Fighting Scots on the board in a big way with a fall at the 6:12 mark to cut the Pitt lead to 8-6.
 
At 149, Ryan Burgos gave Edinboro their first lead of the night pinning Dan Mancini with 4:58 elapsed in the bout.
 
Pitt's Elijah Curry scored a fall of his own and Jake Wentzel earned a 3-1 decision over Dylan Kohn to make the team score 17-12 in favor of the Panthers. Hunter Kernan turned in a tech fall of Joey Arnold to push the Pitt lead to 22-12.
 
Edinboro fought back with Ethan Ducca scoring a 6-3 decision at 184 and Cody Mulligan used a huge riding time advantage to finish out a 20-15 tech fall of Geoff Magin to make it 22-20 Pitt heading to the final bout.
 
At 285, Pitt's Jake Slinger scored a fall of Max Millin in 3:54 to close out the match and earn the victory for the Panthers.
 
The Fighting Scots are back in action on Saturday at the Navy Classic in Annapolis, Md.
