Boro v. Ashland Tennis

Women's Tennis

Edinboro tennis teams hit the road for matches with Ashland University

Edinboro, Pa- The Edinboro Tennis programs will head west for their first road matches of their young 2020-21 season. Ashland University is a familiar opponent for the Fighting Scots, and will mark three straight seasons the programs clash. Play is scheduled for Sunday, February 14 at 3 p.m.

Fans can follow @EdinboroTennis on Twitter for live match updates.

The women's programs have already played three times in total with the Fighting Scots winning the March of 2016 battle. They will look to pick up their first win over the Eagles in five years. Edinboro is led by first year Kaede Tada who served as their number one singles player in the opening match. She will look to make it two in a row and start a winning streak. She will likely be taking on Gabriella Hudec, who interestingly enough, also defeated Katharina Razum of Walsh University in her first singles action of the season. The match at number one singles is sure to be a competitive one. Ashland and Edinboro both come into the match with 0-1 marks after both falling to Walsh to begin their campaigns.

The men's program will look to rebound after they lost a hard fought opening match to Walsh by a 4-3 final count.

Overall, the programs are meeting for their third time with Edinboro winning the most recent showdown in 2020 by a 6-1 final score. Ruben Acuna, Jorge Benette, and Kaio picked up victories in the match last year for the Fighting Scots and will look to do the same come Sunday afternoon. Last season, Kaio Sacchi defeated Jordan Phelps, and a rematch could be in order come Sunday afternoon. This could be one of the more interesting matches for the men's program. Ashland enters Sunday with an 0-1 record having also faced Walsh to open their season. Stuart Brdicka picked up the lone point for the Eagles in their contest with Walsh at number two singles.

"I expect two very competitive matches," said Edinboro Head Tennis Coach Kody Duncan. "I think we worked very hard this week and are improving each day. I hope to see us continue our competitive fight throughout the whole match. We are all very excited to get out there and play this Sunday."
