Edinboro Tennis programs continue to grow with matches against Ashland University

Box Score (New/Sortable Format) 1 | Box Score (New/Sortable Format) 2 Edinboro, Pa. - The Fighting Scots tennis programs hit the road this past Sunday for their second match of the season. They squared off with a familiar and regional opponent in Ashland University, and the matches helped the rather young teams gain valuable experience.

On the women's side, Edinboro was unfortunately swept 7-0, but the team showed some fight at various points within the match. Newcomer Kaede Tada lost a close contest at number one single, 6-4, 6-2. She also fought hard with her doubles partner, Torye Calleja, in number one doubles. That match finished with a 7-5 score. First-year Emily Cevera also showed resilience and lost a close match at the number six singles spot, 6-4, 6-2.

On the men's side, the Fighting Scots lost in another close contest, 4-3. Kaio Sacchi, Thibault Dorval, and Kai Chin Chen all picked up singles victories for Edinboro, while the duo of Chi Chen and Ruben Acuna were able to pick up a victory in double's action, 6-4.

The Edinboro women's team will next be in action on Saturday, March 6 as they take on Fairmont State in a home match. The men's team will play host to the University of Charleston on Friday, February 19 at the Westwood Racquet Club with a 12 p.m. start.
