Box Score (New/Sortable Format) EDINBORO, Pa – Edinboro football finally took the field again, though one week later than initially planned. Starting quarterback Tannor Watson would complete passes to nine different targets Saturday afternoon.
The Fighting Scots were visibly excited as they took the field for warm-ups to take on the Raiders of Shippensburg University.
Defensively, Edinboro had seven tackles for loss that accounted for 40 total yards.

From the game's opening drive, Saige Ley was buzzing defensively, stopping Shippensburg's Bill Williams for a short gain, and breaking up the pass the followed to bring up a third-and seven on the opening defensive set for the Scots.
Son of MLB Hall of Famer Mike Mussina, starting Raider quarterback Brycen Mussina the settled in, completing two passes for first downs before a 40-yard strike to Sheehan to make the score 6-0.
Edinboro's starter Tannor Watson showed accuracy on the day and completed a short pass to Thaddeus Standfield on the opening play of the game.
Anfreenee Williams picked up solid yardage to follow but ultimately Reed Martin came on for his first punt of the afternoon.
Mussina completed a 34-yard pass to Sheehan, one of his favorite targets on the day, before connecting with K Evans from five yards out, bringing to score to 13-0.
At this point, the Edinboro defense stiffened, keeping their team in it for the remainder of the first half.
Watson again connected with Standfield, this time for 14 yards, before a Raiders pass interference on a good pass to J L'Heureux.
As the second quarter opened, with Shippensburg sustaining a drive that brought them to the Edinboro side of the field, the Scots defense forced a turnover.
Mussina hit his running back Williams who was swung hard to the ground by Edinboro linebacker Clay Cunningham, forcing a fumble. Josh Boyd recovered the fumble in stride and returned it 18 yards to the Shippensburg 22-yard line. Sox Harrison Stadium erupted.
A costly false start disrupted Edinboro's next drive despite positive rushes by Dontae Sanders.
On the ensuing Shippensburg possession, defensive end Derian Smith got around the edge and to Mussina 8 yards in the backfield.
The Raiders would ultimately punch it in for the score to make the score 20-0, but Edinboro would answer quickly before half.
Watson completed consecutive passes to open the drive to L'Huereux then Jon Long for a 14-yard gain.
Running back Nigel Sealey ripped off runs of seven and one, giving Edinboro a first down. Warson then found tight end Brodie List for a 17-yard reception and Edinboro was threatening on the Raiders' 21-yard line.
Watson eyes up L'Heureux along the back of the end zone, but he was interfered with on the pass, moving the ball to the two-yard line.
Sanders then lined up, took the snap, and plunged in from the one-yard line to score Edinboro's opening touchdown of the season and bring the halftime score to 20-6.
Martin recorded a 66-yard punt in the first half. Edinboro led the second quarter in passing yards as Watson went 4-of-7 in the frame.
The Fighting Scots defense held the Raiders to just three first downs in the second quarter.

The Edinboro offense opened the third quarter in impressive fashion as Boyd returned the second-half kickoff 28 yards to the 29.
Watson then found L' Heureux twice for 15 yards, leading Edinboro to their own 44-yard line. Sealey would add a two-yard rush before Martin punted again forcing a Shippensburg fair catch at the 12-yard line.
Edinboro's defense forced a punt on the next drive and Edinboro took over from their own 20-yard line.
Backup quarterback Jordan Castelli checked into the game to begin the drive and bit off 14 yards rushing before being hit hard by T. Paul causing a fumble. The Raiders recovered, Mussina found Morrill twice, and Williams took it in for six as Shippensburg went up 27-6.

For a team that was forced out of action last week due to reasons out of their control, Edinboro easily could have buckled facing the scoreboard, but it is not in the identity of the team.
The defense responded by holding Shippensburg to a field goal, partly helped by the second sack of the afternoon for Derian Smith, this time for a six-yard loss.
Edinboro would get the ball back in time for a Watson completion to Darfnell Gouin as the third quarter wound to a close.
Edinboro would cause Shippensburg to punt three times in the fourth quarter, sending a message that the young team is hungry to be on the field and won't give up.
Watson completed passes in the fourth quarter to Long, Armani Bailey, Mike Watkins and Henry Reid III in the fourth quarter of play.

Defensively, the Scots were led by Boyd and Ley with eight tackles each and each broke up a pass. Boyd also had a fumble recovery and return for 18 yards. Anthony Mendicino was constantly spotter near the football, logging six tackles and a pass breakup.
Derian Smith finished with six total tackles including two sacks and 2.5 tackles for loss. Bishop Simmons had five total tackles including one for a five-yard loss.

Shippensburg took the final by a score of 30-9.
The Edinboro Fighting Scots travel to West Chester University next Saturday for a noon kickoff.
