EDINBORO, PA – The Fighting Scots Soccer team (3-0) are back at Sox Harrison Stadium this week coming off the back of two fantastic away victories. Next up for Edinboro is California (Pa.) University (0-3) at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sep. 15.

Highlights Last Time Out

  • Edinboro defeated nationally ranked No.14 IUP 2-0 with a dominant and assured performance from the first minute till the last
  • Morgan Wissner was able to score her third of the season in as many games. This continues the freshman's impressive start to the season, which saw Wissner voted as PSAC West Women's Soccer Athlete of the Week
  • On the scoresheet for the first time this year was another freshman, Lexi Boyk which helped seal the victory
  • Brittnie Spithaler recorded another assist in the game and was unlucky not to add to the score with her six shots in the game
  • Edinboro's defense and goalkeeper Anna Voelker ensured a second shutout of the season for the team, saving eight shots for Edinboro
  • The Fighting Scots will be eager to get back on the field to ensure they maintain their unbeaten start to the season

Cal, Pa Scouting Report

  • Cal (Pa.) are coming off a tight loss to Clarion where an early second-half goal was enough to split the two sides
  • The game saw the Vulcans record 14 shots compared to Clarion's nine, but only four for each team were able to find the target
  • Lindsie Galbreath and Venezia Ashley were the attacking leaders in the game with fours shots each one on goal
  • The only goal of the game came from the penalty spot in the 49th minute
  • California will be coming to Edinboro looking for victory to kickstart their season after their first three tightly contested games

"Cal are an extremely tough opponent. They are a physically strong team and are defensively organized. They look to attack with speed with their attackers so the counterattack is something that we need to be prepared for at any time."

-Head Coach Gary Kagiavas
