EDINBORO, PA – The newly ranked No.11 Fighting Scots (5-0) resume play this weekend against Gannon University (2-1-2). This will be a battle between first and third in the PSAC West. The game is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Sep 25.
Your Fighting Scots
- Edinboro are coming back from a week out of action after their previous 3-1 win against Clarion
- The game saw second half goals scored by Brittnie Spithaler, recording her second of the season. Mary Sinan and Maggie Hays were able to score their first goals of the season to help secure the win
- Edinboro have shown in their previous three games a real attacking intent, convincingly outshooting their opponents with 62 shots to 20. They will be hoping to make this count against a stubborn Gannon team who have proven to be hard to break down this season
- The Fighting Scots defense ensured goalkeeper Anna Voelker was kept quiet last game, with only one shot finding the target requiring Anna to save. Maggie Fragapane, Annie Weimer and Cameron Bujnoski have been solid when called upon in the Edinboro back line
Gannon University
- The opponents this week are coming into the game undefeated in their last three games. Most recently winning 2-0 against Cal (Pa.)
- The Golden Knights have tied 0-0 twice, with both going to double overtime against IUP and Mercyhurst University respectively
- Their only defeat of the season came against Seton Hill in a 1-0 loss
- Sarah Fails (#7) will be a player for the Fighting Scots defenders to watch out for as she scored and assisted against Cal (Pa.) Taylor Lewis (#10) scored a brace in the opening game of the season against Pitt. -Johnstown, another player that could be dangerous
- Other goal scorers this season for the Golden Knights have been Gabby Boden (#11) and Jamie Seneca (#24)
