PREVIEW: Edinboro begins PSAC action on the road at Mercyhurst Wednesday afternoon

EDINBORO, PA - The Edinboro Women's soccer team (1-0) look to maintain their winning start to the season as they head to Mercyhurst University (1-0) who were also victorious in their opening game of the season. This sees the first PSAC conference action of the season for both teams. The game is scheduled for a 4 p.m. Kickoff Wednesday Sept. 8 at Mercyhurst Soccer Field in Erie PA.

  • Edinboro are coming off a 1-0 home victory against #12 Notre Dame this past Saturday RECAP
  • Goalkeeper Anna Voelker was able to keep a clean sheet with four outstanding saves
  • Freshman forward Morgan Wissner was the game winner with her first collegiate goal. The goal was scored in the 26th minute after a period of Edinboro pressure on goal that came to fruition with a low driven shot across the opposing goalkeeper into the bottom corner

Mercyhurst Scouting Report
  • Mercyhurst were victorious in their season opener against Davis & Elkins with a 2-1 victory
  • The Lakers were off to a quick start scoring in the fourth minute of the game through Karah Van Horn, who was also seeing her first piece of Collegiate Soccer action
  • Mercyhurst were pegged back early in the second half when Davis & Elkins scored from a corner kick
  • Van Horn was able to restore the lead for the visiting Lakers in the 61st minute, assisted by fellow freshman Teagan Mehalko
  • Sophomore Goalkeeper, Maddie Elbro registered five saves throughout the game to ensure the victory.
