Edinboro, Pa. - The Edinboro men's basketball team will be back in action for the first time since Dec. 30. The Fighting Scots will return home to open up PSAC West play with a matchup against California University of Pennsylvania on Saturday with a 3 p.m. tip.
Ten games in
With ten games under the Fighting Scots belt, the men's basketball team holds a respectable record of (5-5) overall. Edinboro's offense has remained effective as the team averages 80.8 points per contest. Five Scots are averaging double figures, with Deontae Roberston leading the way at 20.2 points per game. Recently Edinboro recorded two back-to-back victories against competitive PSAC East teams. Edinboro defeated East Stroudsburg with a final of 101-87, along with an 83-78 win over Kutztown the following day.
Last time on the floor
In the team's previous game on Dec. 30, Edinboro traveled to the University of Indianapolis for a non-conference game. The Greyhounds defeated the Scots with an 88-62 final.
Jack Gallagher tied up the game with a layup at the 4:22 mark in the first half, from that point on the Greyhounds would control the momentum. Edinboro was led by Robertson who finished with a team-high 24 points and four rebounds along two steals and two blocks. Cyrie Coates contributed 10 points to the Edinboro offense.
Cal. U Scouting Report
The Vulcans are a member of the PSAC West conference and will be Edinboro's first opponent within the division. The Vulcans come into the competition with an overall record of (8-4) and a (3-3) PSAC record. For Cal. U, they have won two of their last three games. The Vulcans will play their first game since Jan. 5, after a few games that were postponed due to Covid-19 Protocols.
In Cal. U's previous match up, they were defeated by IUP 71-84. The Vulcans held an early 17-point lead in the first half, which was cut down to nine points at the half. From that point on, the Crimson Hawks of IUP would control the game.
All of Cal. U's starters would finish in double figures, but the Vulcans were held to only five three-pointers.
Brent Pegram led the way with 17 points and six rebounds. Zyan Collins matched Pegram's 17 points along with four rebounds of his own and three steals.
Looking Ahead
Following Edinboro's game with California University of Pennsylvania, the Fighting Scots will travel to Johnstown, Pa. to face the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown on Jan. 17.
