Shippensburg, Pa. – The Edinboro swim teams travelled to Shippensburg with the women falling 113-87 and the men falling 109.5-73.5.
The Fighting Scot women earned six first place finishes while the men turned in five first place performances.
"The team did a fantastic job! We had some great swims and raced extremely well," said head coach
Chris Rhodes. "Shippensburg is a well-coached team and very talented and we were right with them. This was a great start for the second semester and I am looking forward to see what we can accomplish come conference championship time."
Leia Ross put her name in the Edinboro record books turning in a time of 57.67 in the 100-yard backstroke to rank second on the Fighting Scot list as well as setting a new pool record. Ross also finished first in the 200 IM with a time of 2:14.15. The team of Ross,
Makayla Scheu,
Paige Smith and Maddy Cordial posted a time of 1:52.78 in the 200-medley relay earning the top spot.
Scheu turned in a pair of first-place swims with a time of 24.98 in the 50 freestyle and 54.35 in the 100 free.
Stephanie Sipple touched the wall in a time of 59.18 to earn first-place in the 100 butterfly. Sipple also added a second-place finish in the 1650 freestyle posting a time of 18:38.18.
Hannah Brewer finished second to Sipple in the 100 fly with a time of 1:04. 92. Smith also scored a second-place finish with her time of 5:24.74 in the 500 freestyle. The relay team of Brewer, Sipple, Cordial and
Avery Zuk were second in the 200-freestyle relay in a time of 1:43.85.
Dylan Cossin turned in a pair of first-place swims. He opened the meet with a time of 16:32.27 in the 1650 freestyle and then a 4:50.24 in the 500 free.
Gerardo Gonzalez Ruiz posted a time of 54.38 in the 100 backstroke to finish in first.
Kevin Morgan also added a first-place finish in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:03.97.
The 200 freestyle relay team of
Luke Edmonds,
Sean Mitcho,
Colton Dvorak and
Frank Barger posted a time of 1:31.34 to finish in first.
Edmonds added a second-place finish in the 50 freestyle with a time of 22.50. Barger touched the wall in a time of 51.0 seconds to finish second in the 100 freestyle.
The Fighting Scots return to action on Jan. 21 when they host Gannon in McComb Fieldhouse.
