Edinboro, Pa. - The Edinboro men's basketball team will continue with conference play by traveling to PSAC West opponent Seton Hill University on Monday, along with a road trip to Indiana University of Pennsylvania on Wednesday. Both games will have a 5:30 p.m. tip off.
Thirteen games in
With 13 games under the Fighting Scots belt, the men's basketball team currently holds a (5-8) overall record and (3-5) in PSAC play.
Edinboro's offense so far has shot around 42% from the field with Deontae Robertson leading the way at 19.3 points per game. Robertson ranks third in the entire PSAC in scoring.
On defense the Scots continue to control the paint with blocks and rebounds. Edinboro is first in the PSAC with 5.31 blocks per game. Dominique Keyes is third in the conference with 1.8 blocks per game as he has become the anchor of the Fighting Scots defense. Keyes also leads Edinboro in rebounds, with 130 in just 13 games.
Last time out
On Wednesday night Edinboro fell to Mercyhurst with a final of 95-60 at home. Early in the first half the Fighting Scots and Lakers would trade leads, as Robertson knocked down a few jumpers.
Turnovers were the difference maker, Mercyhurst was able to force Edinboro into 22 turnovers on the night. Ultimately the Lakers stacked up 7-0 runs in both half's to build a sustainable lead.
For Edinboro, Keyes and Will Taylor each finished with a team-high nine points. Cyrie Coates scored eight points and grabbed six rebounds.
Seton Hill Scouting Report
Seton Hill is a member of the PSAC West conference and currently holds a (1-14) overall record and (1-9) in conference play. The Griffins have been on a cold streak lately, losing their last five games. Seton Hill's last win came back on Dec. 19 against Shepherd University as 69-59 was the final.
The Griffins have found success with the shot from deep. Seton Hill ranks eighth in the PSAC with three-point percentage shooting at a 34% rate. The Griffins are also ranked seventh in free throw shooting at 73%.
Seton Hill has three players that average double figures, including Samuel Tabe who is scoring a team-high 12.4 points per game. Jimmy Moon averages 10.7 points per game along with a team-high 6.1 rebounds per game.
In the team's last match up they were defeated by Pitt-Johnstown 85-89, Sean Dillon led the Griffins with 30 points and five rebounds.
IUP Scouting Report
The Crimson Hawks are another member of the PSAC West conference and currently have a (14-1) overall record and hold the top spot in the PSAC West with a (8-1) conference record. IUP is also ranked sixth in the nation as Mercyhurst is the only other PSAC school in the top 25. As of late, the Crimson Hawks have won their last five straight games.
On average, IUP holds a 21.6-point scoring margin over their opponents. IUP has the best rated offense in the PSAC at 87.5 points per game. The Crimson Hawks also like to shoot it from distance, they have hit 142 three-pointers this season which is also the best in the PSAC. Furthermore, IUP has found success with passing the ball as they lead the PSAC with 18.93 assists per game.
IUP is led by guard Armoni Foster who is second in the PSAC in scoring at 20.3 points per game, along with 6.5 rebounds and 6.5 assists per game. Ethan Porterfield contributes 17.3 points per game along with 7.1 rebounds.
In the team's last match up they defeated Clarion 81-47, Ethan Porterfield led the Crimson Hawks with 30 points on 13-16 shooting.
