Soccer travel to Gannon for PSAC battle

Edinboro, Pa. – The Fighting Scots now 1-5-5 in the PSAC will be looking to break their recent run of three ties when they travel to Gannon University on Wednesday afternoon. Gannon is currently ranked first in the PSAC West standings with a record of 7-1-3. Edinboro will be motivated by their previous meeting this season where Gannon took a 3-0 result.  

Your Fighting Scots 

  • Edinboro tied with Seton Hill on Saturday evening. The game ended 2-2 with Edinboro first leading the game 1-0 before having to fight back to 2-2 in the second half.  

  • Reece Enochs scored her third goal of the season in the fourth minute. A terrific shot from the right edge of the penalty area found the top corner of the goal. Megan Malits assisted the goal with a well-timed through ball, allowing Enochs the time and space to get her shot away. 

  • Edinboro was pegged back and found themselves trailing 2-1 at halftime. The Fighting Scots began the second half pushing forward looking for the equalizer. Lexi Boyk scored the all-important equalizer which was Boyk's first goal of the season. A fast counterattack included link-up play between Megan Malits and Reece Enochs, Eochs was then able to play Boyk through on goal who calmly slotted the ball home in the 59th minute.  

  • The game ended with Edinboro having 11 attempts with six on target. Kaylee Lauriel had four saves from six shots on target.  

  • Edinboro currently averages 10 shots per game with eight goals scored so far this season. Reece Enochs remains atop of the points table for Edinboro thanks to her third goal of the season and an assist. Megan Malits sits in second place with two goals and two assists. 

Gannon Golden Knights  

  • Gannon won 2-1 last time out against Clarion University. Gabby Boden put the Golden Knights in front before Clarion replied with an equalizer. Sarah Fails scored the eventual game-winner in the 51st minute.  

  • Gannon had a season-high 26 shots in the game with 14 shots on target. Sarah Fails and Leah Bermudez led the team in attempts, each having four shots on target.  

  • Kennedy Solymosi was the quieter keeper in the game but still had to make four saves in the game from five shots on target. Morgan Sinan was substituted in goal for Gannon in the second half but was not called into action.  

  • Sarah Fails has 17 points so far this season with seven goals and three assists. Ella Fadale has also contributed with four goals and one assist.  

  • Gannon average 15 shots per game and has scored 21 goals this season.  

Up Next  

  • Edinboro travels to D'Youville College on Oct. 15. The game is scheduled for 1 p.m. in Buffalo, N.Y.
