Edinboro, Pa. -- The Edinboro football team will finish up its regular season with a home contest against Lock Haven Saturday afternoon at Sox Harrison Stadium. Kickoff is slated for 12 p.m.
Last Week
Edinboro dropped to 4-6 overall after falling 28-21 to No. 10 Slippery Rock last week. Lock Haven slipped to 1-9 overall after falling 44-7 to Shippensburg.
The Fighting Scots battled No. 10 to the wire. The Scots got a receiving touchdown by
Thaddeus Standfield and a rushing score from
Zidane Thomas. The Edinboro also scored a touchdown for the second time in three weeks when
Toby Cline returned an interctption 45 yards for a score. Â
The Bald Eagles fell behind early before Samuel Barber connected with Marquon Williams for a 14-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter. Barber finished 6-of-8 for 90 yards and the score. Williams made four catches for 46 yards. On the defensive side, Jaderian Johnson made 11 tackles, 10 solo leading Lock Haven.
The Series
Edinboro Leads All-Time 43-14-1. The Scots have won 15 straight and 33 of the last 34 against the Bald Eagles.
Tackle Machine
Clay Cunningham currently ranks third in Division II in tackles per game with 12.1 per game. He also averages 5.7 solo tackles per game the 13th best mark in the nation. He has 121 total tackles on the season.
No Fly Zone
The Fighting Scot defense ranks second in the PSAC and 26th in the nation against the pass. Edinboro allows just 167.8 yards per game through the air.
Takeaways
Edinboro's defense has also  been effective taking the ball away from other teams. The Scots have forced 22 turnovers ranking second in the PSAC and 15th in the nation after intercepting Noah Grover of Slippery Rock three times last week.
Defensive Scores
The Scot defense has also found a way to put points on the board in recent weeks. In two of the last two weeks, the Edinboro defense have returned interceptions for touchdowns.Â
Honor Roll
Freshman defensive lineman
JR Tellington made good on his first career start making 11 tackles and returning an interception for a touchdown and earning PSAC West Defensive Player of the Week honors after Edinboro defeated Mercyhurst 16-13 last week.
Reed Martin has been named the PSAC West Special Teams Player of the Week twice this season after Scot victories over Franklin Pierce and Bloomsburg. Martin is currently atop the PSAC in punting averaging 43.0 yards per punt and moved inside the Top-10 in Division II ranking sixth.Â
Hidden Yards
The Edinboro coverage team is holding opponents to 3.7 yards per return the 21st best mark in the country. The combination of Martin and excellent coverage units is the seventh best net punting team in the country at 40.3 yards per punt.
The special teams unit has also been strong on kickoff coverage. The 15.3 yards per kickoff return is the 14th best mark in the country and in the top spot in the PSAC.Â
All-Purpose Threat
Thaddeus Standfield has been a weapon for the Fighting Scots this season. He ranks 29th in D-II in all-purpose yards with 128.6 per game. He is fourth in the PSAC in recpetions per game with 5.7 and eighth in yards per game with 73.2. He has also hauled in six touchdowns.
Close Calls
After going 2-4 in games decided by one score a season ago, Edinboro has been on the other end of the results this season. The Scots are currently 3-1 in games decided by one score in 2022.
Red Zone
After starting the season 1-for-9 in the red zone without a touchdown, the Scots have improved to 18-for-34 scoring nine touchdowns.
Keon Anderson has helped the Scot red zone offense rushing for four touchdowns and throwing for a score.Â
Scouting the Bald Eagles
On the offensive side of the ball, Samuel Barber has taken over under center going 21-of-28 for 294 yards and three touchdowns. Marquon Williams is the Bald Eagles leading receiver with 25 catches for 457 yards and six scores. DeAndre Wakefield is the leading rusher at 626 yards and three touchdowns.
Austin Barber has paced the Bald Eagle defense with 64 tackles, 41 solo and 6.0 tackles for loss. Kasir Henry adds 51 tackles  as well as an interception and a fumble recovery. Jaderian Johnson chips in 51 tackles and 2.5 for a loss.
