Edinboro, Pa. -- The Edinboro football team wraps up PSAC West play on Saturday with a trip to No. 10 Slippery Rock. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
Last Week
The Fighting Scots are 4-5 overall and 2-4 in the PSAC West after falling 45-14 Saturday against Seton Hill. Slippery Rock brings a No. 10 natioanl ranking after defeating Clarion 31-0 and improving to 8-1 overall and 5-1 in the PSAC West.
The Fighting Scots got 16 more tackles from
Clay Cunningham and another 11 from
Malcolm Johnson on Saturday against Seton Hill.
Thaddeus Standfield caught four balls for 73 yards inculding a 40-yard touchdown.
Keon Anderson scored his fourth rushing touchdown of the season.
Noah Grover earned PSAC West Offensive Player of the Week honors after going 27-of-34 for 440 yards and three scores in the Rock's win over Clarion. Kyle Sheets pulled in nine passes for 206 yards and two scores to lead the receiveing corps. Brandon Tuck-Hayden led the defense with 11 tackles, eight solo.

Tackle Machine
Clay Cunningham pulled into a tie for the most tackles in Division II with 113 averaging 12.6 tackles per game. He made 16 stops, seven solo, on Saturday against Seton Hill. He has recorded double digit takcles in eight of nine games this season and in each of the last seven.
No Fly Zone
The Fighting Scot defense ranks second in the PSAC and 28th in the nation against the pass. Edinboro allows just 172.1 yards per game through the air.
Forcing Turnovers
Edinboro's defense has also been effective taking the ball away from other teams. The Scots have forced 17 turnovers ranking second in the PSAC and 28th in the nation despite not forcing a turnover against Seton Hill a week ago.
Honor Roll
Freshman defensive lineman
JR Tellington made good on his first career start making 11 tackles and returning an interception for a touchdown and earning PSAC West Defensive Player of the Week honors after Edinboro defeated Mercyhurst 16-13 last week.
Reed Martin has been named the PSAC West Special Teams Player of the Week twice this season after Scot victories over Franklin Pierce and Bloomsburg. Martin is currently atop the PSAC in punting averaging 43.1 yards per punt and moved inside the Top-10 in Division II ranking eighth.
Hidden Yards
The Edinboro coverage team is holding opponents to 4.1 yards per return the 25th best mark in the country. The combination of Martin and excellent coverage units is the eighth best net punting team in the country at 40.1 yards per punt.
The special teams unit has also been strong on kickoff coverage. The 15.3 yards per kickoff return is the 13th best mark in the country.
All-Purpose Threat
Thaddeus Standfield has been a weapon for the Fighting Scots this season. He ranks 26th in D-II in all-purpose yards with 135.89 per game. He is fourth in the PSAC in recpetions per game with 5.9 and eighth in yards per game with 76.9. He has also hauled in five touchdowns.
Close Calls
After going 2-4 in games decided by one score a season ago, Edinboro has been on the other end of the results this season. The Scots are currently 3-0 in games decided by one score in 2022.
Red Zone
After starting the season 1-for-9 in the red zone without a touchdown, the Scots have improved to 17-for-33 scoring nine touchdowns.
Keon Anderson has helped the Scot red zone offense rushing for four touchdowns and throwing for a score.
Scouting the Rock
Offensively, Noah Grover has led the way completing 64.2 % of his passes for 2,488 yards and 23 touchdowns. Kyle Sheets is the top receiving target for the Rock hauling in 45 catches for 770 yards and seven scores. Russell Cohen adds 30 catches for 381 yards. On the ground, Chris D'Or has racked up 615 yards and five touchdowns.
Defensively, Brandon Tuck-Hayden has totalled 76 tackles, 47 solo to lead the Rock. Brandon Bischof tallies 50 tackles, 29 solo and 21 assists. D.J. Adediwura chips in 41 tackles, 14.5 for a loss and nine sacks. Jalen Dangerfield leads the defensive backfield with three interceptions. Jacob Williams has broken up seven passes.
