Edinboro, Pa – The Edinboro women's tennis team will kick off the 2022 spring season with a match against host Walsh University on Saturday at 4 p.m.
Last Time Out
This will be the women's first match since fall 2021. Last season they finished off with an undeniable effort in the PSAC Individuals and a clean sweep over Shippensburg University.
The highlight of the PSAC Individuals was Vidisha Pallamreddy in the singles tournament.
Pallamreddy started out the tournament by defeating Seton Hill's Cameron Beer 6-0, 6-1 in a dominate fashion. This set up a second-round match up against the third seed Katy Gordon of Indiana (Pa.), who was able to end Pallamreddy's run with a 6-3, 6-4 victory.
Anisha Thada also competed in the singles tournament for the women. Thada was eliminated in the first round by Bloomsburg's Rea Hagishima 6-2, 6-0.
In the women's doubles tournament Rafaella Negrao De Almeida and Marina Zottele were victorious in the first round when they defeated Frushour/Burner from Shepherd 8-1. In the second round the duo of Negrao De Almeida and Zottele fell to the number one seed, Kirchtag/Graydon from IUP 8-3.
"The women had a very strong fall going 3-0 to start their season. This is probably the strongest women's team I've had since I started coaching at Edinboro, and I am really excited to see how they do this year. We will be tested right away with two very tough matches against Walsh and Ashland this weekend. I think the women will be ready and are looking forward to the challenge"
