Edinboro, Pa. - The Edinboro men's basketball will host two PSAC West teams at McComb Fieldhouse this week. On Monday night, the Scots will host Gannon at 7:30 p.m. and on Wednesday IUP comes to town for another 7:30 p.m. tip.
Twenty-One Games In
Edinboro comes into the week with a (7-14) overall record and (5-11) in PSAC play. As of recently the Fighting Scots have won their last two out of three games with wins over Clarion. Edinboro currently sits upon the seventh seed in the PSAC West standings. The Scots will look for a late season push in hopes of clinching a spot in the PSAC tournament.
On defense Edinboro averages one more block than their opponents at 4.6 a game. The Fighting Scots also do an exceptional job on the glass as they are fourth in the PSAC with 41.2 team rebounds per game.
Edinboro's offense averages 76.3 points per game, along with 42% shooting from the field and a 28% clip from beyond the arc. The Fighting Scots movement on offense has led them to 12.5 assists per game so far this season.
Statistical Leaders
Deontae Robertson leads Edinboro in scoring at 19.4 points per game which ranks fifth in the entire PSAC. Robertson also contributes 7.5 rebounds per game along with 1.8 steals which ranks ninth in the conference.
Jaryn Simpson averages 13.4 points per game along with 3.8 assists and is second in the conference for free-throw percentage at 85.1 percent.
Cyrie Coates averages 13.0 points per game along with 5.3 rebounds per game.
Last time out
On Saturday afternoon Edinboro fell to Cal U for the second time this season by a score of 62-88. In a game that had one lead changes, Edinboro fell behind early as they trailed 18-47 at the half. Edinboro would outscore Cal U 44-41 in the second half, but it wasn't enough.
In the first half a three-pointer by Kameron King would cut the Vulcan's lead down to 19 points with 4:45 remaining in the half. Cal used the three-point ball as an advantage in the opening half, as they shot 8-18 from deep compared to Edinboro's 2-15.
The Vulcans cooled down from deep, only shooting 5-20 in the second half. At the 12:13 mark, Cal would look to slam the door after going on a quick 5-0 run. The run extended their lead to 37 points after a three-pointer and dunk.
Robertson finished with a team-high 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Jack Gallagher contributed nine points and five assists.
Dominique Keyes followed with eight points and six rebounds in his return from injury.
Gannon Scouting Report
Gannon comes into the competition with an overall record of (12-9) and (9-8) in the PSAC. The Golden Knights currently sit in the fifth spot of the PSAC West as they are winners of three of their last five games.
On offense, Gannon averages 74.4 points per contest while shooting 45% from the field and 31% from three-point range.
Gannon has five players that average double figures in scoring. Lance-Amir Paul leads them with 17.4 points per game and 6.9 rebounds. Ike Herster averages 16.2 points per game, while shooting 33% from beyond distance.
Last Matchup with the Golden Knights
Back on February 2nd, Gannon defeated Edinboro 79-90 at the Hammermill Center in Erie, Pa. Gannon's Braden Olsen finished with a game-high 30 points and eight rebounds. For Edinboro, Robertson finished with 23 points and seven rebounds.
#7 IUP Scouting Report
IUP comes into the competition with an overall record of (22-2) and (16-2) in the PSAC. The Crimson Hawks currently own the top spot of the PSAC West and are ranked seventh in national rankings. IUP is currently riding a seven-game win streak and has won 13 of their last 14 games.
On offense, IUP averages 82.8 points per contest while shooting 48% from the field and 36% from three-point range.
IUP has four players that average double figures in scoring. Armoni Foster leads them with 20.1 points per game which is fourth in the PSAC, along with 6.7 assists. Ethan Porterfield averages 17.6 points per game and grabs 7.2 rebounds per game.

Back on January 26th, IUP defeated Edinboro 67-76 at the Kovalchick Convention and Athletic Complex. IUP's backcourt of Dave Morris and Foster combined for 44 points. For Edinboro, Terrence Moore finished with 17 points and 11 rebounds.
