Men’s Basketball Host Seton Hill in Final Regular Season Game

Edinboro, Pa. - The Edinboro men's basketball team will host Seton Hill University on Saturday afternoon for their final regular season game. The game will tip off at 3:00 p.m. at McComb Fieldhouse. 

Twenty-Five Games In 

Edinboro comes into the week with an (8-17) overall record and (6-14) in PSAC play. As of recently the Fighting Scots have won three out of their last seven games with wins over Clarion and Gannon. Edinboro currently sits upon the seventh seed in the PSAC West standings. The Scots were officially knocked out of postseason contention after their loss to Mercyhurst last Saturday. 

Edinboro's offense averages 75.6 points per game, along with 43% shooting from the field and a 29% clip from beyond the arc. The Fighting Scots movement on offense has led them to 12.5 assists per game so far this season. 

The Fighting Scots are tough on the glass, as they are fourth in the PSAC with 40.0 team rebounds per game. On defense Edinboro averages 1.1 more blocks than their opponents at 4.8 a game. 

Statistical Leaders 

Deontae Robertson leads Edinboro in scoring at 19.0 points per game which ranks fifth in the entire PSAC. Robertson also contributes 7.3 rebounds per game along with 1.7 steals which ranks eleventh in the conference. 

Cyrie Coates averages 14.3 points per game along with 5.6 rebounds per game. 

Dominique Keyes averages 11.0 points per game along with 8.7 rebounds while snatching 1.4 blocks per game. 

Last time out 

On Wednesday night Edinboro fell to Slippery Rock on the road 72-79. 

At the start of the second half, Slippery Rock would jump out to another lead and sustained momentum. The Rock initiated a 6-0 run while increasing their lead to ten points with 14:44 left to play. Moments later, Slippery Rock constructed another run this time they scored nine straight points inflating their lead to a game-high 17 points at the 10:31 mark. 

Edinboro continued to fight down the stretch and gave themselves a chance to win in the final moments. With less than two minutes to play, Edinboro constructed their own 12-4 run including five points from Alex Jay. With 29 seconds left in the game, the Scots were down 72-76 when Dominique Keyes stole the ball from the Rock. ' 

Ultimately, Edinboro missed two consecutive shots that would have trimmed the lead to a one possession game. The Rock would seal the game with free throws. 

Robertson finished with a team-high 17 points and 12 rebounds. 

Jay recorded a season-high 13 points, including three three-pointers. 

Keyes followed with eight points and 10 rebounds. 

Seton Hill Scouting Report 

Seton Hill comes into the competition with an overall record of (3-23) and (3-18) in conference play. The Griffins currently sit in the last spot of the PSAC West standings. 

 On offense, Seton Hill averages 67.0 points per contest while shooting 41% from the field and 33% from three-point range. 

Seton Hill has four players that average double figures in scoring. Samuel Tabe leads them with 13.0 points per game and averages 4.2 rebounds per game. Jimmy Moon averages 11.0 points per game along with 6.6 rebounds per game. 

Last Matchup with the Griffins 

Back on January 24th Seton Hill defeated Edinboro 84-76 at the Katherine Mabis McKenna Center. The Griffins were led by Samuel Tabe who finished with 32 points and 10 rebounds. For Edinboro, Deontae Robertson finished with 29 points and 16 rebounds.
