Charlotte – The Edinboro Track & Field teams got the outdoor season off to a fast start with 16 athletes qualifying for the PSAC Championships.
The Scots not only posted PSAC qualifying times in the 3000-meter steeplechase but also a pair of NCAA provisional times. On the women's side,
Kimberly Goerss took first at the meet with a time of 10:56.73 which is the second-best mark in DII.
Ward Ries also took first at the meet with a time of 9:09.92 which is the best time in DII.
A trio of Edinboro women posted PSAC qualifying times in the 1,500-meter run.
Kylie Anicic put up a time of 4:30.52 to finish second overall.
Lauren Jacobs finished 30
th in a time of 4:56.22 while
Olivia Roberts crossed the line in a time of 4:57.28 good for 32
nd.
The Scots also qualified a pair of women in the 5K. With her second-place finish, in a time of 17:41.35
Anna Alberti was the top 5K runner for Edinboro.
Kate Szep also turned in a conference qualifying time with an 18:43.52 to finish in 11
th.
The women's field athletes added three qualifiers.
Jayna Galley cleared 1.58 meters in the high jump.
Kenzie Lendon tossed the hammer 42.47 meters while Alcia Fritz qualified in the javelin with a throw of 37.01 meters.
The Edinboro men had a strong showing in the 5K qualifying four athletes for the PSAC meet.
Nick Amos led the way finishing in second with a time of 14:35.81.
Danny Desmond added a 10
th place finish with a time of 15:03.73.
Cole Hanks and
Jack Lacina finished back-to-back in 13
th and 14
th with times of 15:06.36 and 15:18.91 respectively.
Two Scots scored qualifying times in the 1,500-meter run as well. Connor Volk-Klos finished in 12
th with a time of 3:55.43.
Matt Wehrle added a 22
nd place finish crossing the line in 3:59.20.
The Scots are back in action on April 2 when they travel to Slippery Rock for the Dave Labor Invitational.
