Edinboro, Pa. – The Edinboro track & field teams began their 2026 outdoor season with trips to the 49er Classic and the Vulcan Early Bird.
The Fighting Scots sent multi athletes to the 49er Classic.
Jasper Valkenburg finished eighth in the decathlon with a score of 5533.
Madeline Newark was the top finisher for the women in the heptathlon with a score of 4080 placing 11
th.
Morgan Wilhelm was 12
th with a score of 3961.
The rest of the Scots traveled to the Vulcan Early Bird in California, Pa.
Eliza Miller ran a 2:20.43, a PSAC qualifying mark, in the 800 meter to place third. Katie Shope was sixth in the 1,500 with a time of 5:01. 71.
The women's 4x400 relay team of
Mackenzie Huston,
Morgan Wilhelm,
Noa Arlandis Bernet and Maddie Hays brought home first place in 4:02.06.
Hays took fourth in the 200 meter with a time of 25.91. Bernet ran a 1:01.61 in the 400 meter to finish fourth as well.
Michaela Mitchell scored in the 100-hurdles with a time of 16.00 good for sixth.
Annabelle Briones used a pair of personal bests in the long jump and the triple jump to score for the Scots in the field events. She was seventh in the long jump at 5.35 meters and eighth in the triple going 10.63 meters.
Edinboro had three placers in the hammer led by
Itzel Barrios in third with a throw of 40.52 meters.
Amy Glowatch had a throw of 33.85 to take seventh and Louiranna Alston was eighth with a toss of 33.70 meters.
The men's distance runners also had a strong showing with the Scot claiming the top three spots in the 1500 meter led by a 4:02.31 from
Shea McCusker. Ralph Anotnucci was next across the line in 4:02.77 and
Donald Shymske was third in a time of 4:03.26. McCusker and Antonucci each posted PSAC qualifying times. The duo of Michael Donaln and
PJ Berger went one-two in the 10K. Donlon finished in 33:07.23 and Berger in 33:07.38.
Tyler Storick posted a personal best 10.88 in the 100-meter to place third.
Devin Smith also turn in a personal best with a time of 11.06 good for sixth. Smith also ran a personal best mark of 22.92 in the 200 to place seventh.
Wiger De Wit won the high jump clearing a PSAC qualifying mark of 1.95 meters.
Luke Campbell was fourth in the long jump with a distance of 6.57 meters to place fourth his best collegiate jump.
Trevor Neumann broke the Edinboro record in the weight throw with a distance of 42.31 meters good for eighth at the meet.
The Scots are back in action on Friday with trips to the Carnegie Mellon Invitational and the Tim Weaver Invitational.
