Edinboro, Pa -- The Edinboro Women's tennis team will travel to PSAC opponent IUP on Wednesday for a 3:30 p.m. start. Coming into the match, the Fighting Scots have a (2-1) PSAC conference record along with a (7-4) overall record.
Statistical Leaders
With eleven matches under their belt, Edinboro currently has four players with winning records in singles play. The Fighting Scots also hold the best record in the PSAC conference.
Vidisha Pallamreddy holds a team best (8-3) singles record and was just named the PSAC West Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week.
Anisha Thada follows her with a (7-4) record.
Marina Zottele holds a (6-5) record in singles play.
In Doubles the duo of Pallamreddy and Thada has been the best, as they hold a perfect (4-0) record when they team up together.
Last Time Out
In their last match on Saturday, Edinboro picked up their second conference win after they defeated Shepherd University 6-0. Edinboro shot out of the gates early, gaining a lead by clinching the doubles point with a 3-0 sweep. The duo of Rafaella Negrao De Almeida and Luciana Ponce got things started with a 6-4 victory over Isabella Mascari and Ally Frushour.
In singles, Pallamreddy grabbed her eighth win of the season as she defeated Mascari 6-2, 6-2. Ponce got past Frushour 6-2, 6-1.
Thada clutched a close match when she won 7-6, 6-7, 10-4, over Burner. The rest of singles was smooth sailing for the Fighting Scots. De Almeida cruised past Smith 6-3, 6-0. Zottele posted a commanding victory over Dean 6-0, 6-1.
IUP Scouting Report
IUP is a member of the PSAC conference out of the Atlantic Region. The Crimson Hawks currently hold a (5-7) overall record and is (1-0) in conference play. In their recent match, IUP fell to No. 17 Tampa 2-5. IUP is led by Karolin Kirchtag who was the ITA Regionals and PSAC champ for singles competition.
