Edinboro, Pa. – Women's soccer travel to Erie, Pa. on Wednesday afternoon where they take on the Lakers of Mercyhurst University, kick off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
Edinboro are coming off the back of a 2-0 loss against Notre Dame, whilst Mercyhurst fell to a 1-0 defeat to Bloomsburg in their opening fixture of the season.
The Fighting Scots
- Edinboro outshot Notre Dame 9-7, with NDC having six attempts on target to Edinboro's five. Kaylee Lauriel recorded four saves in the game.
- Teaghan Watkins led Edinboro in total shots against Notre Dame, with three attempts and one on target.
- Captain Clare Crossley played the full 90-minutes, also registering a shot on target.
- Emily Vogel, Jillian Ball, and Maggie Hays also contributed with shots on goal in the first game of the season.
- The first meeting with Mercyhurst in 2021 saw the Fighting Scots take a 2-1 victory, with a late consolation scored by the Lakers in the 88th minute.
- Morgan Wissner scored what would be the game-winner on the day.
The Lakers
- Mercyhurst conceded in the 83rd minute against Bloomsburg last Thursday, with the Huskies taking the 1-0 result.
- The Lakers outshot the Huskies 11-9, 10 shots were on target with Bloomsburg goalkeeper Riley Spingler equal to all 10.
- Defender Lauren Casey had five attempts in the game with all five on target.
- Midfielder Dani Hartman contributed with three attempts on goal in her 38-minutes on the field.
- Defenders Fern Lazenby and Sydney Snyder both played the full 90-minutes for Mercyhurst.
- Mercyhurst would end up leading the series against Edinboro in 2021 after their PSAC quarterfinal victory, taking the series to 2-1 on the season.
