Soccer prepare for clash with Clarion University

Edinboro, Pa. - Edinboro return to action after a six-day rest looking to kickstart their season after their loss to IUP last time out. Clarion travel to Edinboro fresh off the back of their second win of the season. A win for Edinboro would see them overtake Clarion in the PSAC standings where they currently sit one point behind. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. on Wednesday night at Sox Harrison Stadium.

Your Fighting Scots

  • Edinboro fell to IUP last Wednesday in a 3-1 result, now holding a record of 0-4-2.

  • Annie Weimer recorded her first assist of the season, playing Keidel through on goal with a defense-splitting pass.
  • The Fighting Scots hold a strong record in their upcoming fixture with Clarion, with 18 wins overall and three losses. Edinboro won both games last year 3-1 and 2-1 respectively.
  • Maggie Hays scored in the 3-1 win at home last year which saw Edinboro have 17 shots in the game.
  • Reece Enochs scored the game-winner in the reverse fixture which saw Edinboro come from behind to win the game 2-1.
  • Edinboro will not sit on recent results against Clarion as they pose a stern test with many close results this season.

Clarion Golden Eagles

  • Clarion holds a 2-6 record, 1-5 in PSAC action, with a 3-2 win coming in their opening game against Wheeling and most recently against IUP where one goal was enough for the victory.
  • The Golden Eagles have had close defeats throughout the season so far with four 1-0 defeats and a pair of 2-0 losses.
  • Clarion has scored four goals scored this season with four different goalscorers contributing. In their victory against Wheeling Taylor Serrano scored the opener in the very first minute of the game. Clarion found themselves 2-1 down going into the second half. Jaci Bowser equalized just before the hour mark with Katelyn Shaffer scoring the game-winner seven minutes later.
  • Clarion had 23 attempts against Wheeling whilst allowing 21 attempts in return.
  • Clarion's win against IUP required just one goal which was scored by Marisa Colondrillo. The Golden Eagles out-shot their opponent 12 to 10.
  • The Fighting Scots will have to look to limit a Clarion offense that averages 9.5 shots per game, as well as taking advantage of the chances they have with Clarion allowing on average 16 shots per game at their goal.
