Erie, Pa. -- The Edinboro football team continues PSAC West action on Saturday with a trip to Mercyhurst for a 2 p.m. kickoff against the Lakers.
The Game
The Scots and Lakers enter this contest with matching 2-2 overall records. Edinboro is coming off a 49-7 loss to California (Pa.) while Mercyhurst dropped a 33-16 decision to IUP.

Hidden Yards
Reed Martin leads the PSAC in punting average at 43.5 yards per punt. He currently ranks seventh in DII. Martin has earned two PSAC West Special Teams Player of the Week honors in the Scots two wins. He has nine punts downed inside the 20-yard line. He also has a long of 63 yards. 
Close Calls
After going 2-4 in one possession games in 2021, the Fighting Scots are now 2-0 in contests decided by one score in 2022. 
Tackle Machine
Sophomore linebacker 
Clay Cunningham is inside the top-10 in tackles per game ranking ninth nationally and second in the PSAC with 11.0 stops per contest. He has made double-digit stops in three of four games this season after making 10 tackles on Saturday against Cal.
No Fly Zone
The Edinboro defense has held opponent passing attacks in check ranking 14th in the nation and second in the PSAC in passing yards allowed giving up just 140.5 yards per game through the air. The Scots have recorded five interceptions.
Behind the Line
When the defense is on the field, they have consistently played on the other side of the line of scrimmage. The Scots rank 21st in D-II with 8.2 tackles per loss per game. 
Malcolm Johnson leads all Scots with six stops behind the line of scrimmage.
Takeaways
The Scots rank sixth in the PSAC in forced turnovers taking the ball away eight times on the season including a season high five forced turnovers against Bloomsburg. 
Special Teams
Special teams have been a strong point for the Scotsranking sixth in the nation in terms of kick return yards only allowing 12.75 yards per return the top mark in the conference.  Edinboro also ranks first in the PSAC and third in the country in net punting averaging 41.7 yards per punt.
All-Purpose 
Thaddeus Standfield has been productive not only as a receiver, but also in the return game. He ranks sixth in the PSAC in all-purpose yards and 19th in Division II at 147.25 yards per game. Standfield ranks 23rd in combined return yards with 273 this season.
Through the Air
The offense has run through sophomore quarterback 
Isaac Bernard. Through four games, Bernard has 959 yards passing ranking fourth in the PSAC and 22nd in the country. 
On the Road Again
Edinboro is on the road for the second straight week and the fourth time in five weeks to open the season. The Scots are 1-2 on the road this season and 4-4 on the road under head coach 
Jake Nulph.
Red Zone
The Scots will look to continue to improve in the red zone. After starting the season 1-for-9 in the first two games, Edinboro has been 4-8 in the last two contests. Freshman running back 
Keon Anderson has helped the low red zone offense with two touchdown runs and a touchdown pass in the last two weeks.
Controlling the Clock
Edinboro has controlled the football through four games ranking 13th in the nation and second in the PSAC in time of possession. The Scots average 33:43 of possession per game. 
Scouting the Lakers
Michael Lowery has started all four games under center going 57-of-97 for 616 yards and six touchdowns. Cameron Barmore has 10 cathces for 156 yards and one touchdown while Justin Hill adds nine catches for 121 and a score.  David Alize is the leading rusher with 304 yards and two scores. Dustin Shoaf adds 218 yards and five touchdowns. 
Defensively a pair of linebackers lead the Lakers. Jacob Holl has made 41 tackles, 30 solo, to go with two interceptions. Thomas Zacharyasz adds 30 tackles.
