Fighting Scots Prepare for Battle Against Gannon Golden Knights

Edinboro, Pa. – Edinboro hosts the Golden Knights of Gannon University on Wednesday evening, at 6 p.m. at Sox Harrison Stadium. Edinboro enter the game in search of their first win of the season, off the back of a positive display against Pitt-Johnstown where they gained their first point of the season.

  • Edinboro now holds a record of 0-2-1 overall, and 0-1-1 in the PSAC West.
  • The Fighting Scots opened their home season with a 2-2 tie with Pitt-Johnstown. Edinboro found themselves trailing 1-0 at halftime, to then leading the game 2-1 with seven minutes remaining before UPJ snatched a late equalizer.
  • Reece Enochs brought Edinboro level in the game, calmly lobbing the ball over the UPJ goalkeeper from the edge of the 18. Madison Felton assisted the goal with a well-placed ball over the top for Enochs to run onto.
  • Megan Malits put Edinboro ahead in the 67th minute when a looping effort from out wide found its way into the top corner. This was Malits second collegiate goal for Edinboro.
  • Reece Enochs leads Edinboro in goals with two in the three games. Enochs has now scored five goals for Edinboro since 2021 and is already one goal away from equaling her 2021 season tally of three.
  • Both games with Gannon in the 2021 season were decided by one goal. The first came in a 3-2 overtime loss at Gannon. The second meeting saw Gannon score in the 72nd minute to take a 1-0 result.
 
Gannon Golden Knights
  • Gannon is 2-1-1 for the season so far with wins coming against Charleston (W.V.) and fellow PSAC West rivals Slippery Rock. Gannon opened the season with a 3-2 loss to 12th-ranked Concord. In their most recent match, Gannon was held to a 2-2 tie with Indiana (Pa.) after leading the game 2-0.
  • Their matchup with IUP saw Gannon open the scoring in the sixth minute of the match through Junior forward Logan Nicklas. Senior forward Sarah Fails doubled the Gannon lead in the 60th minute. A quick reply in the 67th minute saw IUP pull one back, before eventually equalizing in the 76th minute.
  • Gannon has scored seven goals so far this season having conceded five. They average 10 shots per game whilst allowing on average eight per game.
  • Sarah Fails leads Gannon in scoring with three goals. Logan Nicklas and Ella Fadale have also contributed with two goals each.
