Buffalo, Ny. -- The Edinboro women's tennis team will travel to face D'Youville College on Thursday, Sept. 8 at 4 p.m.
The Fighting Scots
Edinboro's match against the Saints of D'Youville will be the Fighting Scot's first head-to-head matchup of the 2022-23 season. This past weekend, Edinboro began the season with a singles tournament format at the Allegheny Invitational.
The team only played on Saturday, as Sunday's slate was cancelled due to the weather. Six players from the Scot's roster were competing in Saturday's singles tournament action.
The team earned four overall victories out of nine matches played. Rafaella Negrao De Almeida defeated Heed from Slippery Rock 6-2, 1-6, (8). Maria Clara Salomao defeated Cox from Allegheny 6-4, 3-6, (6). Cecillia Carayol defeated Lopez from Slippery Rock 6-4, 7-5. Ana Nadai defeated Rossi from Westminster 6-3, 5-7 (3).
The Saints
The D'Youville Saints are members of the East Coast Conference and are coached by head coach Sydney Rice. Their match against Edinboro will be the season opener for D'youville, as they return four players from last season and add three freshmen to the roster.
