Buffalo, Ny. -- The Edinboro women's tennis team completed a commanding 6-1 match win over D'youville on Thursday afternoon. With the win, Edinboro begins their season in the win column at (1-0).  

The match began with doubles, as the two teams fought to earn the first point of the afternoon. The duo of Rafaella Negrao De Almeida and Cecillia Carayol kicked things off with a 6-2 win over the team of Yulia Kashtelian and Khushi Agarwal. The second round of doubles also went to the Fighting Scots. This time it was Ana Nadai and Sandra Riecken shutting out Julia Clapper and Katelyn Hoover 6-0. Edinboro won the third round of doubles by default and the Scots earned the doubles point. 

In singles, Edinboro continued to dominate at a strong rate. Carayol defeated Kashtekian 6-1, 6-2. Nadai joined in on the action when she rolled past Clapper 6-0, 6-0. Riecken kept the trend going as she took out Hoover 6-2, 6-1. Maria Clara Salomao was responsible for Edinboro's third sweep of the afternoon when she defeated Taylor-Anne Austin 6-0, 6-0. The final singles match featuring Anna Zak was won by forfeit for Edinboro.  

Edinboro will be back in action this weekend when they compete in the West Virginia Wesleyan tournament.
