Men’s Basketball Travels to Slippery Rock

Slippery Rock, Pa. -- The Edinboro men's basketball team will play host Slippery Rock in their first matchup of the season. The game is scheduled for Wednesday night inside Morrow Fieldhouse at 7:30 p.m. 

Last Time Out 
Edinboro enters the Week with a (4-10) overall record and (2-7) in the PSAC conference. Last Saturday Edinboro hosted Seton Hill University at home during the first matchup of the season for the two PSAC West teams. 

The Scots fell to Seton Hill 87-77 in a game where Edinboro led by two points at the half. The Scots finished with a season-high fifteen three-pointers which crushed their previous season-high of ten. Of the fifteen three-pointers from Edinboro, Naim Miller was responsible for eight of them. Miller posted a career-high 32 points and shot 53% from deep. Kierell Green added 23 points and 15 rebounds for his third double-double of the season. Late in the second half a strong 11-0 from the Griffins would put the game out of reach for Edinboro. 

As a Team 
With a current (2-7) record in the PSAC conference, Edinboro sits in the seventh spot out of the West.  

On the season Edinboro has averaged 69.6 points per game while shooting 41.8% from the field and 31.1% from three-point land. 

The Scots are second in the PSAC for rebounding margin at +5.4 only behind East Stroudsburg. 

Edinboro has found a strong identity on the defensive end, which has converted into easy offense. The Scots average 6.8 steals and 3.4 blocked shots per game. Their strong defensive capabilities are attributed to their 11.2 points per game off turnovers.  

Edinboro's physicality contributes to their game on the offensive end. The Scots currently average 32.2 points in the paint per game.  

Individual Leaders 
Miller is Edinboro's leading scorer at 15.9 points per game and is shooting 38.1% from deep. Miller has reached double figures in Edinboro's last 10 games. 

Green averages 13.7 points per game for the Scots to go along with 7.5 rebounds per game. Green is fresh off back-to-back double doubles in his last two games. 

Slippery Rock 
The Rock of Slippery Rock University enter the contest with a (11-4) overall record and (5-4) in the conference after their recent 81-51 loss to Mercyhurst. Slippery Rock currently sits in the fourth spot out West.

Slippery Rock has averaged 76.0 points per game while averaging a +4.6 scoring margin. The Rock is shooting 44.6% from the field and are averaging almost seven three-pointers per game.  

Khalid Gates leads the Rock in scoring at 15.2 points per game and averages 6.5 rebounds per game. Amante Britt is averaging 14.8 points per game and leads the team with 25 steals this season.

After Wednesday's game, Edinboro will travel to Clarion on Saturday, Jan 21. The game will begin at 3:00 pm after the Women's game.
