Erie, Pa. -- The Edinboro men's basketball team will begin PSAC West conference action by traveling to Mercyhurst Wednesday for a 7:30 p.m. tip.
Last Time Out
Edinboro enters the new year with a (4-6) overall record after their recent 71-62 win over Bloomsburg. It was Naim Miller who led the Scots with a team-high 20 points and Dominique Keyes who contributed 16 points and 12 rebounds for his sixth double-double of the season.
After a slow start in the first half, Edinboro eventually would grab the lead and sustain it for the entire second half. With less than two minutes remaining in the game, Bloomsburg made it a one possession game apart of their 8-0 run. Edinboro refused to give up the lead and would ice the game with free throws to earn their second consecutive win.
As a Team
After going (2-3) in the PSAC East crossover, the Scots currently sit in fifth place out of the West and have moved up two spots from last week.
On the season Edinboro has averaged 71.6 points per game while shooting 43.5% from the field and 30.5% from three-point land.
Edinboro's physicality contributes to their game on the offensive end. The Scots currently average 34.6 points in the paint per game.
The Fighting Scots continue to lead the entire PSAC conference in rebounding margin. Edinboro is averaging 7.0 more rebounds per game than their opponents. Edinboro is also fourth in offensive rebounds at 13.3 per game and sixth in combined team rebounding at 39.3 per game.
Individual Leaders
Miller takes over as Edinboro's leading scorer at 13.6 points per game and is shooting 35.4% from deep. Miller has averaged 17.2 points per game in Edinboro's last five matchups.
Keyes has averaged 12.2 points and 11.6 rebounds per game and has already recorded six double-doubles on the season.
Mercyhurst
The Lakers of Mercyhurst University are led by head coach Gary Manchel. Mercyhurst enters the contest with an (8-1) overall record after their recent 88-58 win over Mansfield.
Mercyhurst has averaged 81.0 points per game while averaging a +20.4 scoring margin. The Lakers are shooting 47.3% from the field and are averaging almost ten three-pointers per game. Jeff Planutis leads the Lakers in scoring at 15.6 points per game while shooting 40% from three-point range. Michael Bradley contributes 14.4 points per game while shooting 48.1% from the field.
