Indiana, Pa. -- The Edinboro men's basketball team will are back in action on Wednesday night against the nation's top ranked team in IUP. The Scots will match up against the Crimson Hawks inside Kovalchick Convention & Athletic Complex at 7:30 p.m.
Last Time Out
Edinboro enters the Week with a (5-18) overall record and (3-15) in the PSAC conference. On Saturday Edinboro battled Slippery Rock at home during the final matchup of the season for the two PSAC West teams.
The game would go down to the wire as it was tied at 62-62 with less than two minutes to play. With 21 seconds left Slippery Rock's Jomo Goings would score on a layup to put the Rock up 67-66. During the following possession a shot in the paint would miss for Edinboro. After fouling, Slippery Rock made the front end of two free throws.
Edinboro secured the rebound with two seconds remaining and launched a full court shot that missed as time expired. Dominique Keyes led Edinboro with 15 points and 15 rebounds. With the loss, Slippery Rock would clinch the final spot in the PSAC tournament.
Twenty-Three Games In
With a current (3-15) record in the PSAC conference, Edinboro sits in the seventh spot out of the West and is ahead of Gannon and Clarion.
On the season Edinboro has averaged 70.3 points per game while shooting 41.8% from the field and 30.9% from three-point land.
In Edinboro's last five games they have shot 44% from the field and have taken their offense to another level. In their last game against Slippery Rock, the Scots shot a solid 46%.
The Scots have made at least seven three-pointers in a game nine times this season. Edinboro has heated up from deep recently as they reached this mark in their last three games.
The Scots are second in the conference for offensive rebounds and twenty-fifth in the nation. Edinboro only trails only trails West Chester with their 12.7 offensive rebounds per game.
Team Leaders
Naim Miller is Edinboro's leading scorer at 16.2 points per game and is shooting 33.1% from three-point range. Miller has reached double figures in Edinboro's last 19 games.
Kierell Green averages 14.8 points per game for the Scots to go along with 8.7 rebounds per game. Green is averaging 20.7 points per game in his last three games.
Dominique Keyes averages 11.2 points and 10.9 rebounds per game. Keyes has achieved three double doubles in his last three games. Keyes fourth in the nation for rebounds per game and sixth in the nation for double doubles.
IUP
Indiana University of Pennsylvania enters the contest with a (24-1) overall record and (18-1) in the conference after their recent 70-63 win over Clarion. IUP is ranked first in the PSAC West standings as well as first in the division II national rankings.
The Crimson Hawks defeated Edinboro 79-61 in their first matchup back on January 23rd. Edinboro would lead 23-20 early in the first half, until a 13-2 IUP run put them ahead at the half. The second half was all IUP as they iced the game with multiple dunks at the end. Green finished with a team-high 18 points and 11 rebounds.
IUP leads the PSAC with a 16.8 scoring margin this season. The Crimson Hawks are also first in the conference for opponent field goal percentage, IUP is only allowing teams to shoot 38.1% from the field.
Shawndale Jones leads the PSAC in scoring at 20.2 points per game along with 4.6 rebounds per game. Dave Morris adds in 15.1 points per game on 41.6% shooting.
