Johnstown, Pa. -- The Edinboro men's basketball team are back in action on Saturday afternoon against PSAC-West opponent Pitt-Johnstown. The Scots will match up against the Mountain Cats inside the Sports Center at 3:00 p.m.
Last Time Out
Edinboro enters the Week with a (5-19) overall record and (3-16) in the PSAC conference. On Wednesday Edinboro battled the nation's best IUP on the road during the final matchup of the season for the two PSAC West teams.
Early in the first half it was Edinboro on top of the nation's best 9-5. Eventually, a 13-0 run from the Crimson Hawks would put them in control for the remainder of the game.
A strong start in the second half would put Edinboro back within reaching distance. A 7-0 run had Edinboro trailing by only two possessions. IUP would end the game on a 31-11 run which included five three-pointers. Miller finished with a game-high 19 points along with three triples.
Twenty-Four Games In
With a current (3-16) record in the PSAC conference, Edinboro sits in the seventh spot out of the West and is ahead of Gannon and Clarion.
On the season Edinboro has averaged 70.3 points per game while shooting 41.8% from the field and 30.9% from three-point land.
In Edinboro's last five games they have shot 44% from the field and have taken their offense to another level.
The Scots have made at least seven three-pointers in a game nine times this season. Edinboro has heated up from deep recently as they reached this mark in their last three games.
The Scots are second in the conference for offensive rebounds and twenty-fifth in the nation. Edinboro only trails West Chester with their 12.7 offensive rebounds per game.
Team Leaders
Naim Miller is Edinboro's leading scorer at 16.3 points per game and is shooting 33.5% from three-point range. Miller has reached double figures in Edinboro's last 20 games.
Green averages 14.5 points per game for the Scots to go along with 8.6 rebounds per game. Green is averaging 20.7 points per game in his last three games.
Dominique Keyes averages 11.2 points and 10.4 rebounds per game. Keyes has achieved three double doubles in his last three games. Keyes fourth in the nation for rebounds per game and sixth in the nation for double doubles.
UPJ
Pitt-Johnstown enters the contest with a (18-7) overall record and (14-5) in the conference after their recent 69-85 loss to nationally ranked Mercyhurst. UPJ is ranked third in the PSAC West standings and sits behind Mercyhurst and IUP.
The Mountain Cats defeated Edinboro 77-63 in their first matchup back on January 25th. Edinboro would lead 7-1 early in the first half, until a 13-0 UPJ run put them ahead at the half after nine three-pointers from the Mountain Cats. The second half was all UPJ as they led for the remainder of the game. Green finished with a double-double consisting of 21 points and 15 rebounds.
UPJ leads the PSAC in three-point percentage as well as overall field goal percentage. The Mountain Cats are converting 43% of their three-pointers and 51% on their overall field goals.
John Paul Kromka lead UPJ in scoring at 16.6 points per game along with a team-high 7.0 rebounds per game. Andrew Shull adds in 11.8 points per game and has converted on a team-high 45 three-pointers this season.
