Edinboro, Pa. -- The Edinboro women's tennis team will be back in action for the first time in almost two weeks. On Friday, the Scots will welcome Frostburg State University for a 7 p.m. match start. On Sunday, Edinboro will finish up the weekend with Daemen College. Sunday's match will begin at 4 p.m.
Last Time Out
In their previous match the Edinboro women fell to Salem University with a 0-7 final. In doubles, the duo Cecillia Carayol and Marina Zottele came up with Edinboro's lone match win. Carayol and Zottele took down Kylie Diaz and Melanie Coric of Salem 6-2.
In singles the Tigers held their edge by earning all six singles victories to add to their doubles point. For Edinboro, it was Carayol and Zottele who were able to force their opponents to an extra set, but ultimately both fell short.
Edinboro
The Edinboro women enter the weekend with a (1-2) overall record and sit in fourth place in the PSAC West standings for their non-conference record.
In three matches played Carayol, Sandra Riecken, Ana Nadai and Maria Clara Salomao are all tied with one singles win on the season. In doubles, Carayol leads Edinboro with a (2-1) doubles record.
Frostburg State
The Frostburg State Bobcats are from the Moutain East Conference and are led by head coach Jeff Splinter. The Bobcats are (2-3) overall after their recent 2-5 match loss to Mercyhurst last Sunday.
This will be the second time ever that Daemen and Edinboro will clash in women's tennis. Back in 2012 the Fighting Scots defeated the Wildcats 9-0.
Daemen
The Daemen Wildcats belong to the East Coast Conference and are led by head coach Richard Greco Jr. The Wildcats are (3-8) overall after their most recent match against Mercyhurst when they were swept 0-7.
Kitsa Scime leads the team with a (9-5) singles record this season. In the head-to-head battle, the Scots hold the edge with five wins and two losses to the Wildcats.
Headed South
After this weekend, Edinboro will begin their road trip that consists of five matches in seven days. The road trip begins on March 3rd when Edinboro goes head-to-head with Davis & Elkins College in Buckhannon, WV.
