Buckhannon, W Va. -- The Edinboro men's tennis team will hit the road as they begin their trip down south that will consist of five matches spanning across seven days. On Friday, the Scots will go head-to-head with Davis & Elkins College with the match beginning at noon. On Sunday, Edinboro will travel to Charlotte, North Carolina to battle Queens University of Charlotte. Sunday's match will also begin at noon.
Last Time Out
In their previous match the Edinboro women earned a vigorous 4-3 win over Daemen College.
In doubles Edinboro would earn the point with two wins out of three. The Scots earned the early advantage after Cecillia Carayol and Marinia Zottele won their second doubles match of the season in a close 7-5 battle.
Sandra Riecken and Ana Nadai came away with Edinboro's second doubles win after their dominant 6-1 victory. Nadai and Riecken lead the Scots with three wins in doubles this season.
Entering singles, the Scots needed three points to clinch the win. In dramatic fashion the Edinboro women would deliver with three match wins. Zottele earned her first singles win with a 6-1, 6-2 final over Carly Armitage. Salomao and Nadai each posted clean 6-0, 6-0 sweeps to help Edinboro prevail.
Edinboro
The Edinboro women enter the weekend with a (2-3) overall record and sit in fourth place in the PSAC West standings for their non-conference record.
In five matches played Nadai and Salomao are tied with three singles win on the season. In doubles, Nadai and Riecken lead the Scots with their (3-2) record.
Davis & Elkins
The Davis & Elkins Senators are from the Moutain East Conference and are led by head coach Marc Walters. The Senators are (0-1) overall after their recent 0-7 match loss to West Liberty University.
Queens University of Charlotte
Queens University of Charlotte belongs to the ASUN Conference and is led by head coach Michael Cabana. The Royals are (2-8) overall after their most recent loss to North Carolina A&T State University 3-4.
Coming Up
After this weekend, Edinboro will continue their road trip as they head further south. The Scots will face off against Belmont Abbey College on Monday followed by Francis Marion University on Wednesday.
