Women’s Tennis to Conclude Spring Trip in South Carolina

Florence, SC. -- The Edinboro women's tennis team will conclude their spring break trip with two matches in South Carolina. On Wednesday the Scots will compete against Francis Marion University at 2:00 p.m. On Thursday, Edinboro's trip will come to an end when they battle Limestone University at noon. 

Spring Break Trip  
The Edinboro women kicked off their spring break trip by competing against two higly competitive teams from North Carolina. 

On Sunday the Scots went head-to-head with Division I Queens University of Charlotte. The Edinboro women were swept 0-7 after a close battle between Maria Clara Salomao and Kelsey Sinclare. Sinclare defeated Salomao 7(7)-6(2), 6-1 after a first set tie breaker. 

On Monday Edinboro battled Belmont Abbey College in a match where the Scots were eventually swept 0-7. The Edinboro women fought hard in doubles and came close when Marina Zottele and Cecillia Carayol fell short to Alexis Burkhalter and Frankee Hendricks 7-5. 

In singles Carayol continued to keep things interesting as she eventually fell to Kaitlin Nguyen 6-4, 6-2. 

Edinboro 
The Edinboro women enter their final two games of the spring break trip with a (2-5) overall record and sit in fourth place in the PSAC West standings for their non-conference record. 

In seven matches played Nadai and Salomao are tied with three singles win on the season. In doubles, Nadai and Riecken lead the Scots with their (3-4) record. 

Francis Marion 
Francis Marion University is from the Carolinas Conference and is led by head coach Jay Evans. The Patriots are (4-4) overall after their recent 7-0 win over West Virginia Wesleyan College. 

Limestone 
Limestone University belongs to the South Atlantic Conference and is led by head coach Alan Ferguson. The Saints are (1-4) overall after their most recent match when they were defeated by Queens University of Charlotte 5-2. 

Coming Up 
After this week Edinboro will remain idle until March 25th when they host Shepherd University.
