Women’s Tennis Set for Three Matches This Week

Edinboro, Pa. -- The Edinboro women's tennis team is set for three matches in four days this week as they focus on conference action. On Tuesday, the Scots will travel to Clarion for a 4 p.m. start. The following day, Edinboro will be back home to host Slippery Rock at 4 p.m. Finally on Friday, the Scots will head out to Erie to battle Mercyhurst at 6 p.m. 

Last Time Out  
This past weekend the Edinboro women finished up their non-conference schedule as they hosted West Virginia Wesleyan College. 

The Scots defeated the short-handed Bobcats 6-1 after a big-time singles win from Marina Zottele

Zottele defeated Cayley Symons 6-2, 6-1 and earned her fourth singles win of the season. 

Cecillia Carayol fell in a close battle with Aderemi Omolade. After winning the first set, Carayol eventually fell short in the extra set with a 6-4, 5-7, 8-10 final. 

Edinboro 
The Edinboro women enter the match with a (4-9) overall record and (1-1) in the conference. The Scots are currently in a three-way tie with Slippery Rock and Seton Hill for third place in the PSAC West standings. 

In thirteen matches played Ana Nadai owns the best singles record at (5-6) on the season. In doubles, Nadai and Sandra Riecken lead the Scots with their (5-6) record. 

Clarion 
The Golden Eagles of Clarion are led by interim head coach Hannah Kercher and are (0-6) overall. The Golden Eagles are (0-2) so far this season in conference play and sit in the last spot in the PSAC West standings. 

In their last match the Golden Eagles were defeated by Slippery Rock 0-7. Last season Edinboro prevailed over Clarion with a convincing 7-0 win. 

Slippery Rock 
The Rock of Slippery Rock is led by head coach Matt Meredith. Slippery Rock is currently (7-6) overall and (1-1) in conference play as they are also tied for third place in the PSAC West standings. 

In their last match the Rock defeated West Virginia State 5-2. Last season, the Edinboro women fell to Slippery Rock 0-7. 

Mercyhurst 
The Lakers of Mercyhurst are led by head coach Jerome Simon and are (7-6) overall. In conference play the Lakers are (2-0) and sit in second place in the PSAC West standings. 

In their last match the Lakers defeated Seton Hill 6-1. Last season, the Edinboro women fell to Mercyhurst 0-7.  

Up Next 
After this week's action, the Edinboro women will head to California (Pa.) on Wednesday to battle the Vulcans for a conference match. The match is set to begin at 4 p.m.
