Bloomsburg, Pa. -- The Edinboro football team hits the road Saturday to take on Bloomsburg in a 2 p.m. kickoff at Dany Hale Field at Redman Stadium.
Last Time Out
The Fighting Scots fell to No. 14 Shepherd 35-28 Saturday at Sox Harrison Stadium. Edinboro put up 28 points doing a majority of their work on the ground, rushing for 188 yards against Shepherd.
Brian Trobel finished with a team-leading 93 yards and two touchdowns of over 30 yards on 13 carries.
Matt Carlisle added 70 yards on five attempts.
Isaac Bernard led the passing attack with 86 yards on 10-of-14 passing.
Thaddeus Standfield caught eight passes for 57 yards.
Wilfredo Diaz recorded 11 tackles, two forced fumbles, a recovery and an interception.Â

Ground Game
The Scots turned in their best rushing performance of the
Jake Nulph era rushing for 188 yards and three touchdowns against Shepherd.
Brian Trobel led the charge with 93 yards and two scores on runs of 38 and 36 yards.
Quarterback
Matt Carlisle broke off a run of 64 yards. It was the first rush of over 50 yards since Walter Fletcher went 80 yards against Clarion on Oct. 27, 2018.
Turnover Battle
Edinboro didn't turn the ball over against Shepherd. It was the first time that the Scots went without a turnover since committing zero against Mercyhurst Oct. 1 of last year.
The Scots also forced three turnovers on Saturday with
Wilfredo Diaz having a hand in all three of them. Diaz forced a fumble that was recovered by
Darius Wise and recorded an interception near the end of the first half. Diaz also recovered a fumble forced by
Malcolm Johnson in the fourth quarter. Edinboro is now a -2 in the turnover battle this season.
Bloomsburg leads the PSAC with five takeaways and the Scots rank sixth in the league with three takeaways.
Special Teams
Reed Martin had a tremendous day on special teams. Martin punted seven times averaging 47.3 yards per punt with two punts over 70 yards. He hit three punts over 50 yards and had three punts downed inside the 20. In the last two seasons, there have been four punts over 70 yards and Martin has hit three of them.Â
In addition to his punting prowess, Martin hit the longest field goal in the PSAC over the first two weeks with a 46-yard field goal as time expired on the first half. It was the first Edinboro field goal from over 45 yards since Vincente Arrigada hit a 46 yarder against Gannon on Oct. 5, 2019.
Martin ranks ninth nationally and second in the PSAC averaging 44.7 yards per punt.
The Edinboro coverage team has helped out Martin with the Scots ranking sixth in net punting at 42.9 yards good for 6th natioanlly and the best mark in the PSAC. The punt coverage team is allowing just 1.33 yards per return which ranks fifth in the PSAC.
Thaddeus Standfield ranks 17th in D-II with 175 combined return yards with 175 total yards. He ranks seventh in the PSAC in All-Purpose yards averaging 131.0 yards per game.
In the Zone
The Scots went 2-of-2 in the red zone against the Rams. They are one of 37 teams nationally and five in the PSAC that have scored on all of their red zone opportunities.
Stop Sign
Malcolm Johnson currently ranks 19th in the country with 10.0 tackles per game through two contests. That puts him fourth in the PSAC. He ranks fifth in the PSAC in solo tackles making 5.5 stops per contest.
Road Warriors
Under coach Nulph, Edinboro has been a strong road team posting a 6-6 record away from Sox Harrison Stadium.
