Men’s Basketball Set for Road Contests with Mercyhurst and IUP

Erie, Pa. – The Edinboro men's basketball team hits the road for two PSAC Wests contest at Mercyhurst and IUP this week.
 
The Games
On Wednesday, the Scots make the trip to Erie to take on Mercyhurst at 7:30 p.m. and then go to IUP on Saturday for a 3 p.m. contest against the Crimson Hawks.
 
Last Time Out
The Scots used a second half rally to take down UPJ, 100-95, Saturday afternoon inside McComb Fieldhouse. Four Scots reached double figures led by 26 from Bernie Blunt. He also recorded five rebounds and six assists. Jack Gallagher added 16 points, seven boards and four helpers. Will Taylor tallied 13 points and five rebounds off the bench. JJ Eubank was the fourth Scot in double figures with 11 points.
 
Honor Roll
Blunt earned PSAC Co-Athlete of the Week honors after averaging 29.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 4.5 assists per contests as the Scots went 1-1 last in PSAC play last week.
 
By the Numbers
Edinboro is averaging 74.9 points per game while opponents are scoring 82.3. The Scots hold a slight advantage on the boards +0.8 but are a -1.0 in turnover margin.
 
Offensive Leaders
Blunt paces the Edinboro attack ranking second in the conference in scoring at 20.9 points per game. Eubank adds 10.4 points per game while Daunte Wilcott adds 9.8 points per game to his team-leading 6.3 rebounds per game.
 
Scouting the Lakers
Mercyhurst enters the contest 8-8 overall with a 4-4 mark in PSAC play after dropping 66-54 decision to IUP last Wednesday. Aiden Reichert led the Lakers with 18 points and six rebounds. Jeff Planutis chipped in 15 points.
 
The Lakers average 68.9 points per game while allowing 63.9. They are even on the glass and hold a +2.6 turnover margin. Planutis paces the offense with 17.1 points per game while Reichert adds 11.6. Sean Fullerton also averages double figures at 11.3 points per outing.
 
Scouting the Crimson Hawks
IUP is 9-5 overall and 6-2 in PSAC play after falling 84-58 to Gannon Saturday afternoon. Ethan Porterfield led the Crimson Hawk offense with 18 points. KJ Rhodes, Jaylen Stewart and Josh Petteno each scored eight.
 
The Crimson Hawks are outscoring opponents 69.6-66.6 on the season. They are +2.6 on the glass and even in turnover margin. Porterfield is the leading scorer at 17.9 points per game. Dallis Dillard adds 15.8 and Garvin Clarke tallies 14.3 per game.
