Philadelphia, Pa. – The Edinboro wrestling team had eight place winners at the Keystone Classic hosted by the University of Pennsylvania on Sunday.
Kade Sottolano led the Fighting Scots with a fourth-place finish at 285. He opened the tournament with a 7-3 decision over Parker Ferrell of Virginia Tech. He followed that up with a 10-3 decision win over Drexel's Tanner Updegraff. Central Michigan's Bryan Caves topped Sottolano 12-0. In a rematch with Ferrell, Sottolano shut out the Hokie 6-0 advancing to the third-place bout. Sottolano fell 2-1 to John Pardo of Penn to take fourth.
At 133,
Colton Camacho posted a fifth-place finish. In a high-scoring opening match, Camacho dropped a 16-13 decision to Drexel's Kyle Waterman. Camacho bounced back with a fall over Sean Spidle of Central Michigan in 1:14. He advanced again with a 10-0 major decision over John Hildebrandt and then knocked off teammate
Parker Sentipal 7-4. In the consolation semis, Camacho dropped a 4-1 decision to Penn's Ryan Miller. Camacho closed out his day with an 8-0 major decision over Mason Leiphart of Franklin & Marshall.
Brody Evans and
Ryan Michaels each turned in sixth-place performances for the Scots.
Evans got to his offense in his opening match against Xander Kuokkanen of Penn scoring a 21-4 tech fall. In his second match, Evans dropped a tough 4-3 decision to Mason Alessio of Central Michigan. In his first consolation match, Evans defeated Franklin & Marshall's Nick Alvarez 8-1. Evans advanced again with a 6-4 decision over Harvard's Haden Bottiglieri. Evans dropped his final two matches 8-1 to Jack Janda of Drexel and 15-6 to Ty Finn of Virginia Tech.
Michael's opened his tournament with a 10-2 major decision over Luke Robie of Virginia Tech. Jimmy Harrington scored a 10-3 decision over Michaels in the next bout. Michaels responded with a 12-1 major decision over Nolan Liess of Harvard. Michaels held a 12-0 lead when Virginia Tech's Matt Herich defaulted. Michaels fell to Lock Haven's Nick Stampulos 13-4 and Penn's Paul Ognissanti via fall to take sixth.
Finishing in seventh for the Scots was
Anthony Ferraro at 141 and
Nick Lodato at 197.
Ferraro opened the day with an 11-1 major decision over Jack Bastarrika of Virginia Tech. Ferraro dropped a 20-5 tech fall to Penn's CJ Composto. In his first consolation match, Ferraro defeated Hunter Mason of Virginia Tech 10-3. Jameson Garcia of Harvard defeated Ferraro 7-5 before Ferraro earned his seventh-place finish with a 2-0 decision over Conner Heckman of Lock Haven.
At 197, Lodato opened with a 4-2 decision over Hudson Skove of Harvard. Dan Rella Jr. dropped Lodato to the consolation bracket with a 12-7 decision. In his first consolation match, Lodato defeated Penn's Josh Labarbera 2-0. Taking on another Quaker, Lodato was pinned by Jackson Zimmerman. He finished out the day with a 4-2 decision over teammate
Eli Makel.

Sentipal dropped a 17-3 major decision to Penn's Alex Almeyda in the opening bout. Sentipal bounced back scoring a fall over Virginia Tech's Franky Medina. Sentipal dropped a 7-4 decision to Camacho and then closed out the day dropping a 21-7 major decision to Kyle Waterman of Drexel.
Makel fell 2-0 to Penn's Zimmerman. In his consolation match against Mason Pellegri of Harvard, Makel was a 3-1 winner. Makel dropped a 13-0 major to Max Agresti of Harvard and then a4-2 decision to Lodato in the seventh-place match.
The Scots are back in action on Dec. 7 when they travel VMI for the VMI Duals. Wrestling starts at 3 p.m.
