The Fighting Scots swept both doubles matches and stole four singles matches from the visiting Vulcans, as Edinboro captured the home contest against California (Pa.) on Tuesday. Edinboro has now won the last seven meetings in the series with Cal.
The team of
Johanna Priedite and
Cecilia Carayol defeated Cal's Leandra Guldimann and Maria Del Mar Ojeda 7-6 to kick off the PSAC West battle at Westwood Racquet Club. Both Preidite and Caryol would also win their singles matches.
Maria Clara Salomao and
Marina Zottele earned the 6-2 win over Cal's Diletta Maria Mungo and Bega Gotor, with Zottele winning her singles match over Carmen Duan, 6-2, 6-1.
In the final doubles match, Rafaella Negrao de Almeida and
Lara Sener won 6-3 over Carmen Duran and Lilli Schreiber. Negrao de Almeida also took down Scheiber in singles play, 6-3, 7-5.
Edinboro improves to 6-13 overall on the season and 1-3 in PSAC West play.
The Fighting Scots return to action Saturday, April 27 at noon, hosting Clarion before participating in the PSAC Tournament.
